There have been a few issues recently with leaving comments on blogs which have the comments embedded rather than as pop-ups.  I can only comment on these when I use my laptop, not my iPad.  So if you have an issue commenting on your Sweetheart's blog, leave a comment here and I'll pass it on!

As the organiser of this Blog Hop I don't usually get a Secret Sweetheart for myself but this year two people sent in two photos!  This one is a lovely biscornu, why not try guess who it is from before clicking on the photo to find out?

This one features one of the designs already sent out, see if you can spot it as you hop around the blogs, no clues for this one!

I haven't got any new hearts for this post unfortunately but here's a design I will be starting very soon as a SAL with Linda:

Finally, most people are aware that I run a number of Blog Hops throughout the year, five in total.  Last year I launched the Five Hops Challenge, similar to the Five Peaks Challenge but with more stitching and fewer mountains.

We had a grand total of 11 mountaineers complete the challenge!  The aim was to take part in OR comment on every single one of the Blog Hop.  I appreciated that not everyone has stitching suitable for every hop which is why I allowed comments to count.  So a big round of applause for our intrepid 11 in alphabetical order!

Thank you to everyone who takes part in all the events and SALs I organise, it wouldn't be so much fun without you all!

As the organiser of the Hop I don't get a secret sweetheart but sometimes I still get a heart!

The pink cube is the design I stitched last year by Amint Kipatten but the painted canvas and the felt heart are new.  They are belated Christmas gifts from the lovely Wee Witchy Steph at Show and Tell.

Aren't they lovely?  Steph is doing lots of crafting at the moment and makes some gorgeous things.

I did receive another gift today but I'm saving that for Gifted Gorgeousness tomorrow.

Everyone who is participating in the Secret Stitching Sweetheart Blog Hop will be entered into my Five Hops Challenge this year.  But even if you are not a participant you can still be counted for one entry by commenting on this post and letting me know you've been visiting the Sweethearts' blogs.

Finally, I am saving my stitching pictures for GG tomorrow but this is how my focus piece for the month looked when I picked it up yesterday:

Yes, it's a Chatelaine month!  Stayed tuned for progress pictures on Gardens of London.

New Year, New Starts

Don't you love a New Year?  The chance to make a fresh start with your goals and projects?  Make resolutions and keep them for a whole week!  To say "I haven't spent anything on stash this year" and mean it.

And most of all; guilt-free new starts!  Last post I showed my Mrs Peggotty's Alice which I am hoping to work on regularly with an aim of 700 stitches per week.  Or maybe not.  I took her to the coffee morning at the local craft shop and got 200 stitches in 1.5 hours.  Here's where she is now:

stitched over one on 25 count blue evenweave

I'll do a bit more tomorrow and take her into work during the week for my lunchbreaks.

The plan is for her to replace Dracula at bath-time when I complete that design.  Here's the current position:

stitched on 32 count Amortentia Belfast by Chromatic Alchemy

The moon is taking FOR EVER but once I reach the top of the U I can put in the words "Bram Stoker's" and then the white fits round the outside of that.  Then it's an R and D and some boring border!

Here's another new start from the WIPocalypse list.  This was a gift from Brenda and she will be stitching along with me this year.

stitched on 28 count lilac evenweave

The design is Just Nan's Diamond Bouquet and will eventually look like this:

It's not very big and I'm aiming for two bands per month with a July finish.

As promised I will be running the Secret Stitching Sweetheart Blog Hop on Valentine's Day.

Secret Stitching Sweetheart Blog Hop

It's really very simple, all you have to do is email me a picture of something you have stitched which is suitable for a stitching friend on Valentine's Day.  It could be a heart, or a pair of cute creatures, or the word "love" or anything which warms your heart. Really anything you think a fellow stitcher would like to receive in her email Inbox.   It can be something you've stitched in the past or something you've made especially for this year.  It could also be quilted or sewn this year as I know some of my followers do other crafts too.

Send me the email by 10th February.

When I have all the emails I will randomise them and send one to each participant on 13th February.  Then on 14th February you must post the picture you receive onto your blog under the heading
 Secret Stitching Sweetheart.
There will be a list on my blog of everyone joining in, so check out all the blogs and find out who got your picture and identify yourself  in their comments as their
Secret Stitching Sweetheart.

Does that make sense to everyone?  I hope so!

If you'd like to be involved then leave a comment on this post or send me an email if you are "no-reply".   I'll be putting little reminders up from time to time and will email on 9th February to make sure you send the pic in time.

Finally, a Public Service Announcement - Blogger no longer sends email notifications for comments from "no reply" bloggers.  If you moderate comments like I do, all the "no-reply" people are loitering in your "Awaiting Moderation" section along with the Yahoo people that Blogger also doesn't like.  I really do advise people to attach an email to their profile, preferably a Gmail, so we can see your comments easily and respond to them.

Secret Stitching Sweethearts Blog Hop

Happy Valentine's Day and welcome to the Secret Stitching Sweetheart Blog Hop.  Over the last few weeks I have been receiving some lovely photos of love through the email.  At the weekend I emailed them out to the participants in this year's blog hop to display on their blog and wait for their Secret Stitching Sweetheart to come and comment.

Here are this year's particating blogs:

๐Ÿ’– Kitten Stitching ๐Ÿ’–
๐Ÿ’– Lesley's Stitching Diary ๐Ÿ’–
๐Ÿ’– The Alychmyst's Study ๐Ÿ’–
๐Ÿ’– Needles, Pins & Dragonflies ๐Ÿ’–
๐Ÿ’– Jeremiah's Mom ๐Ÿ’–
๐Ÿ’– Tickled Pink in Stitches ๐Ÿ’–
๐Ÿ’– Ariadne from Greece ๐Ÿ’–
๐Ÿ’– Le Coeur Celtique ๐Ÿ’–
๐Ÿ’– Stitch Niche ๐Ÿ’–
๐Ÿ’– Fireflies & Cats in the Garden ๐Ÿ’–
๐Ÿ’– The Flashing Scissors ๐Ÿ’–
๐Ÿ’– Jocondine ๐Ÿ’–
๐Ÿ’– Thoughts & Musings ๐Ÿ’–
๐Ÿ’– Needle, Pen & Sword ๐Ÿ’–

To help inspire everyone with their stitching I posted a list of freebies designs suitable for Valentine's Day.  You can see the full list on my Themed Freebies page.  Here's the one I stitched this year:

It was my project for FFO Sunday this week and I made it into a cube finish, you can see the backing fabric here:

It's not quite an FFFO (Finally Fully Finished Object) because I realised that I didn't have any pink or red felt for the base.

The design is from the Amint Kipattan blog.  There are lots of different hearts there, look up "sziv" in the sidebar.  I hadn't noticed the little ribbon roses when I printed the chart out!   There's a first time for everything though and they look OK.  I stitched this on 32 count Pink Belfast linen from Zweigart using my own DMC colours and some random beads.  Which need reattaching where I caught them on the invisible thread!  I also changed the leaves to satin stitches.

I've stitched quite a few hearts over the years, here's a collage of some of them:

Finally, I've been making great progress on my Chatelaine but I'll keep it short today as you all have a lot of blogs to visit for the hop and I'll be back tomorrow for Gifted Gorgeousness.
