April Smalls SAL

The Smalls SAL is hosted by Stitching Lotus

This year I am showing my Just Nan 12 Days of Christmas blocks for the Smalls SAL and also my 30-a-day projects.  All smalls also by Just Nan.  It's a Nan-a-thon year!

Here is Block 4 on the 12 Days of Christmas:

Nan has decided to go for Crowing Roosters for her Four Calling Birds rather than the traditional Colly Birds, or Blackbirds.  But they are nice and colourful and fit in well with the rest of the piece.

I completed the beading on Potpourri:

And just need a tiny flower charm to go in the centre to finish it off.

I fully finished Painted Lady for my scrapbook:

And continued to work on Charm Garden:

This is larger than most of the others so is taking longer.

Finally, I am planning to make 31 Just Nan starts for Stitch Maynia this year!  I have sorted out my list of smalls and will start one each day and then continue to work on them one at a time for the next 3 years or so!  It's a fun way to build up a selection of smalls.  If anyone wants to join me in stitching any Just Nans please do.  It doesn't have to be 31 starts, any Just Nan stitching counts.
Show your Nan-a-thon on your blog and email me a link so I don't miss it!

March Smalls SAL

The Smalls SAL is hosted by Stitching Lotus

Three French Hens from 12 days of Christmas

I have had a busy month with work both paid and voluntary so missed a few days on my 30-a-Day but did manage to complete Potpourri except for the beading.

and started Charm Garden:

Charm Garden is a little bit bigger than some of the others so I might stitch more than 30 a day to try get it done in less than a month.  The target with these is at least one per month.

Finally, don't forget the Easter Blog Hop is under way right now.  There are a lot of participants this year but there is also plenty of time to visit and leave comments.  The links all go direct to the Hop post now it make it easier for you to find the relevant post.

February Smalls SAL

The Smalls SAL is hosted by Stitching Lotus

This is Noah's Rainbow which I had completed last month but hadn't got the charm yet:

Last week I completed Painted Lady:

I made a few changes to this one as it was charted for green fabric.  The main Celtic Knotwork was an olive colour so I changed it to 3041/3042.

I used the charted beads but reversed the colours for the ones in the centre of each side compared to the ones in the middle of the flowers.

I also used a charm from my stash as I did not have the official JN butterfly

Then I started Potpourri:

All of these smalls were started last March for March Madness.  Here is the collage I did back then:

I have completed all the ones on the left hand side and I am now starting the ten on the right hand side.  So I started looking at what I have left in my Just Nan stash.  There are enough smalls to do Stitch Maynia this year!  So that is the plan.  For the whole of May I will start one of the smalls each day and do a minimum of 30 stitches.   I am averaging one finish per 3 weeks so it will give me enough smalls to do the 30-a-Day for the next 3 years!

Finally, I will be hosting an Easter Blog Hop with a Treasure Hunt for the Mystery Phrase.  Provide your own eggs!  If you would like to take part this year, just leave a comment here.  The week before Easter I will send you a letter of the alphabet which will form part of the mystery phrase.  On Good Friday you will post that letter along with a photo of something seasonal that you have stitched (could be Easter or Spring or just something cheerful and sunny or floral). We all hop around like little bunnies to find the Mystery Phrase!

Here's a link to last year's hop so you can see how it all works - Easter Treasure Hunt Blog Hop 2017

The Easter Hop is the second peak of our Five Hops Challenge.  Everyone who joins in with all five hops this year (either as a participant or as a commenter) will be entered into the Five Hops draw at the end of the year.
