Fully Finishing Fun for August

This SAL is designed to motivate us all to do something with that box of Finished pieces instead of just storing them under the bed.  We will all be linking up on Rachel's blog on or after the 10th of each month (10 Hour Stitcher - 10th of the month).

I haven't got anything as fancy as last month's finish but there are more FFO'd items this month.  It's been really hot here so obviously the perfect time to FFO some Christmas designs.

The first up was a finish this month too.  I completed the stitching in July but only got a chance to add the beads and charm this month.  This is Just Nan's Holly Noel:

I didn't have the holly charm so I used a little candy cane instead

It's a biggish piece so it got a page to itself.

I decided to mount You Are My Gift as a gift tag style with a nice piece of ribbon.  You may have noticed I changed the words on Peace on Earth to Peace & Harmony.  Anyone whose child likes Peppa Pig will recognise the song those words come from!

I would have had a framed piece as well but I didn't have the right frame in my stash so that will have to wait.

Finally, we had the Summer Blog Hop at the weekend.  Thanks to everyone who took part and to all those who hopped around and discovered the Stitching Friends.  It worked really well and I will definitely be doing it again next Summer.

I spent two whole days on the Longest Day Marathon which you can read about here.

After completing my days for Discworld, I spun my Tiny Decisions App which chose the Brooke's Books Stitcher's Alphabet.  Yesterday's post is all about that one.

The next project chosen by the app was my oldest WIP; Ernie Bishop's Noel Letters.  I had started N for the Marathon so for the final two days of the month, I completed N and then started the little floral bouquets for N and O:

It is easier to do them colour by colour as all four are the same.

The DMC are not for anything specific, just to replace skeins which are running low in my master set.  Because of the price of DMC, I rarely "kit" anything up with a separate skein.  I just pull from the master set.  The exception is larger projects, such as Discworld and my Chatelaine where dyelots are important.  There seems to be a lot of green in the bag, must be all the Just Nan smalls!

Finally, the Summer Blog Hop.  Anyone want to do a Summer Blog Hop this year?  I thought we could do a Know Your Blogging Friends Hop.   I allocate you the name of a fellow blogger and you make a post about them, showing something you think they would like to stitch.   Could be something you have stitched or something you found online you think they would like to stitch.

So, for example, if you got me as your Blogging Friend you would write a post about my Blog Hops and show a dragon design (or 2!).

June Smalls

The Smalls SAL is hosted by Mary's Thread

This year my Smalls will be my JBW 12 Days of Christmas ornaments which I started on Boxing Day 2019 for the 12 Days of Stitchmas.  I completed the Sixth Day in June:

Next up were the three Holly Berry Snowflakes.  I completed all the stitching and added some of the beads during my Longest Day Marathon.  I just need another hour to finish the beading off and then FFO them.

Then I moved on to a non-Just Nan design for one I really wanted to fit into the rotation this year.  This was one of the freebie designs released for the Be Well SAL at the beginning of the corona virus pandemic when we were all advised to stay indoors and stitch.

I love this little Quarantine House by My Fanny Designs and you can find it here on her Instagram account. She has designed a few projects in cloches and they seem perfect for people in lockdown.

After that, I went back to Just Nan and the next design in the list, Holly Noel:

Finally, the lovely Clare from Aimetu's Stitching is asking for some help with her smalls.  Each year Clare decorates a tree for her church's Tree Festival with stitched ornaments.  I have donated ornaments in the past and this year she is asking us to join in again.  The theme is A Bouquet of Flowers.  All she needs is the stitched piece, she will fully-finish it for you.  Just leave a comment on Clare's blog to get involved.   (I include this each month as a reminder for myself!)
