I have successfully completed the first month of the Ten-a-Day Challenge, I am a Man In Control of my Life (you need to have seen the advert to understand that). I am stitching Just Nan's Spring in the Square. Here's a little collage to show the first 31 days:
And a better view of the current progress:
I am also taking part in Stitch From Stash on FB. I have set a budget of £20 per month (which is equivalent to US$25 due to our rubbish exchange rate!). I have some Christmas money to spend but I am saving that to buy the supplies for my cousin's new baby stitching. I was on track for a zero spend but then Stitchrovia released the first part of her new SAL and it's for Charidee Mate so how could I refuse? So I spent £1.99 on that.
Stitchrovia | £1.99 | Chart |
Plush Addict | £3.35 | Finishing Fabric |
Plush Addict | £0.58 | Ribbon |
Total | £5.92 |
I have been stitching a couple of pieces I can't show yet. The first is for my Secret Stitching Sweetheart Blog Hop (not too late to sign up, just leave a comment) and the second is for The Alphabet Club on the first Saturday in February. But I do have an FFO to show. I plan to Fully Finish an Object each Sunday that I don't have to work.
Last week I finished Little Snowy Gray Cottage by Nora Corbett:
This is an 8 inch version of my favourite raw wood box frames from Wilkinsons. I painted this one with a sample pot of emulsion. You can see how deep the rebate is, there is plenty of room for those chunky beads not to be squashed. You can read all the stitching details on this post here.
And now for some pie:
Not surprisingly, Joan Elliott's 12 Days of Christmas dominates the pie this month with over half the month spent of one design. Another 8 days on various SALs and 6 days of free stitching whatever called to me.
Finally, I forgot to mention on my WIPocalypse post that I have compiled a list of previous WIPocalypses (WIPocalypii?) which you can find on my Happy Dance Blog. I have noted down my success (or not) in completing the various projects each year. Last year was the best year yet which makes me happy.

That Mirabilia is so sparkly!! The simple white frame really lets it shine...no pun intended. ;)
Love the collage of the just nan piece. The cottage looks very pretty ffo'd. Glad to hear last year's wipocalypse was a success too.
Your Ten-a-day project looks great Jo. It's kind of surprising to see how much gets done on a piece with just 10 stitches a day. Love the way you framed the cottage.
Linda
Your Just Nan is just lovely and isn't that Nora cottage beautifully stitched. I love the idea of stitching from stash.
That is an excellent frame for Cottage and love your colour choice. I'm really amazed at the progress 10 stitches a day gives you.
Love the daily pics of the JN - congrats to you for working on it (and remembering the take the photo) every day this month! The little cottage is adorable. Love all the sparkles.
The little cottage looks wonderful in it's new frame!
Love the finish on your Mira! 10 a Day is a great way to see progress - I went a bit silly in January as I started late and I over did it a bit... but from today it will be 10 A Day! Lots of blue in that pie!
Love the collage of ten a stitch piece. Great idea of finishing a piece on Sundays. You are doing great with stitch from stash.
I was sad to hear about CSC closing down.
Love your snowy cottage! Interesting you say "rebate"... I say "rabbet". Are you planning to keep up the effort on 12 Days? That is a big slice of pie!
So very impressive to see the collage of your ten-a-day project. And a very successful stitch-from-stash month (while mine was the opposite, so it's good that I don't take part, lol).
No wonder that Joan Elliott's 12 Days took over more than half of your January stitching. It's such a wonderful project.
Your little cottage is looking beautiful in the frame!!
That's sad that CSC is closing. Some time back they changed the iPad app and my old magazines don't open properly either. They will soon stop app support too.
No more Cross Stitch Collection?! That's sad. I have been a subscriber on and off over the years. I liked the reader pages, especially after they cut them from Cross Stitcher.
I'm off to get some of those box frames - perfect!
It's a lot of fun to look at your daily pictures of 10 a day - it adds up so quickly! Great job at your finishing and the stitch from stash as well. I'm not doing SFS, but I'm documenting for myself how much I spent on what, and the number for January is much bigger than I care to share, haha. I'll do better in February!
Snowy Cottage is stunning! Good luck on the stitching from your stash....I'm trying to be good too....not sure if I'll be successful though! Sad to hear that it was the last issue of Cross Stitch Collection.
The JN looks fab seeing each days progress.
I've not spent anything last month, DH did when he bought my little knitting row counter - as what's his is mine also, can I shoehorn a no spend in? Lol
Lots of wonderful stitching going on! Love your pie. Love the framed piece. Perfect! Hope your Feb is just as successful.
When you put all the pictures together like that it is really fun to see your progress on 10 a day. Your Cottage Finish is beautiful. And of course always love to see your Pie
Beautiful job on the frame and lovely work fully finishing the cottage. I am going to try and work on finishing on Sundays as well, thank you for the inspiration.
You need to do a flip video off all the pictures when you've finished, that would be fun to watch!
I LOVE your cottage, perfect frame for it.
Lovely progress, and your cottage is gorgeous! Great frame :D
Nice seeing your progress with ten-a-day. The Nora Corbett piece looks amazing:)
It's fun seeing the progress pictures of the challenge whose name I cannot even type for fear of laughing so hard I need their products.
The Cottage finish is gorgeous
Your project pics look really great, Jo, this project is moving along really well.
The snowy cottage is beautiful and the fabric you have used shows the design off perfectly.
Little Snowy Grey is a beautiful finish, Jo, and the frame really suits! Great to see the progress on 10 a day!
Barbara x
