Snow and Christmas in March

The snow part of the title refers to the Beast from the East which caused widespread travel chaos and school closures in the last days of February and first days of March.

On the plus side I got to use some new colours in my Temperature SAL and some more snow beads!  The blue and purples represent temperatures between 2 degrees and zero degrees Celsius.  The pinkypurple represents the day when the High Temperature was only minus 2 degrees (28 degrees F).

stitched on 22 count white hardanger

The Christmas part is the ongoing progress on Just Nan's 12 Days of Christmas.  This month I stitched Block 3 - 3 French Hens:

stitched on 32 count Vintage Grain linen

The top four blocks so far:

After Christmas I moved backwards in time to Hallowe'en and Jardin Prive's Happy Hallowe'en Night:

stitched on 32 count Cognac Linen

The whole piece so far:

The theme for March is Black Cats.  I am moving about the piece as the themes don't always fit the next logical area to stitch.

Finally, don't forget the  Easter Blog Hop.  If you would like to take part this year, just leave a comment here.  The week before Easter I will send you a letter of the alphabet which will form part of the mystery phrase.   On Good Friday you will post that letter along with a photo of something seasonal that you have stitched (could be Easter or Spring or just something cheerful and sunny or floral).  We all hop around like little bunnies to find the Mystery Phrase!

I envy you all that snow! Sadly I cannot volunteer for the Easter Blog Hop since the majority of my stitching is winter and Christmas related. I do have some other season type charts and kits in my stash so maybe next year : )

I really like the idea of the temperature SAL, it is too late to start now but I might put this idea away for another year. x

I have never seen snow because I live in Brazil. In my city the temperature in winter is around 13 and 23ยบ C and it is so cold for us!!!

Great stitching! Beast is a good word. We had some extreme cold in the last of Feb. but no snow. By this time of winter, I am so finished with all the nasty weather! I want Spring!!

Your snow sure is pretty, Jo, but I'm sure it really sets everyone back when they aren't used to it. I live in the northern US so we see it often... sigh!!

Just love that sweet Just Nan piece--each block is adorable and the colors are such fun. Your Halloween piece is looking so cute--I love anything with black cats :)

Enjoy your week!

Lovely stitching!Good progress on the Halloween piece and congrats on the block finish! We are at the beginning of summers and the temperature range is 36C-22C (high-low). The summer will be at its peak in May and for a week in May it will reach 46-47C at midday. Schools are closed for at least 45 days in summer.

Do you guys have the saying March comes in like a lion? We sure do and boy it sure has for most of the US. It's actually snowing right not but not going to amount to much today at least. Your stitching looks great!!

Wow you did get lots of snow by you Jo. It never snows in Florida and I miss that pretty flaky stuff falling from the sky. Don't throw anything at me! Love all of your stitching. I always am in awe of how much you get done. RJ

Lovely stitching as always Jo! Funnily enough we had only a very light dusting of snow from The Beast whereas 6 miles away they had 12"!! Go figure!! Bet your kids enjoyed the snow and the extra days off school ;-) have a great week,
Helen

Love the snowy picture, Jo - just like a picture postcard. Great progress on the Temperature SAL - I think that I am going to make mine a focus for IHSW and try to catch up a bit on it. Lovely work on both your Christmas and Hallowe'en pieces. Hey, I just looked at your 2018 finishes and 4 out of the 5 are Just Nan designs - your obsession is showing, lol! Also, please sign me up for the Easter Blog Hop (if I haven't signed up already!). Hugs, Kaye

Lovely! Looks like you'll be able to add more purples to the temperature chart again this weekend. :)

Well, snow and Christmas go perfectly together (most people would say) but the word March doesn't really fit, lol. At least this awful weather gives you the chance to use nice new colours in your temperature project. I have no idea which colours I would have had to use during the week when our temperatures were at -14° during the day and at -20° during the nights. I just hope that the new Beast that the weatherman announced for this weekend won't be that cold.

I love the temperature SAL - have you been able to add more beads this weekend? I'm getting disappointed about the small amount of snow we keep getting - is that wrong?! x

So we have Christmas, Halloween and Easter all in one post! The only thing missing is something summer-y.
We had our latest snow attack last weekend...can it please finally be spring already?
