July Smalls SAL

The Smalls SAL is hosted by Mary's Thread

For this SAL I am showing the monthly project for the Christmas Ornie Blog. I am choosing from the back issues of the Just Cross Stitch Ornament Specials.  This month the issue was from 2006 and I chose The Sweetheart Tree Christmas Joy Bellpull which is the companion to the 2007 design I stitched for March's choice.

It was a quick stitch so I fully finished it straight away:

The next item for my "smalls" SAL is always my spooky conversion of Lavendar & Lace's Enchanted Alphabet.  This month I added a trio of froggies taken from a Just Nan design.

Staying with Just Nan I had a number of successes this month.  First I finished the second side of the Butterfly Needlebook:

Then I added the beads and my initials to the first side:

And now I have them both finished.  Question is - do I make a needlebook which won't get used or do I scrapbook?

Having finished those two I moved on to the next one in line, Spring Fantasy.  Very small and quickly finished!

This one will be scrapbooked with some more of the butterfly stickers I used last time.

I did start another one (Butterfly Welcome) but haven't photographed it yet!

Finally, haven't shown any rocks for a while so here are two I made as End-of-Year gifts for the Small Boy's teachers:

Lovely smalls - those frogs are so darn cute - and of course the little bell pull and Just Nan finishes are really pretty.
The rocks were a fantastic idea for the teachers and will no doubt be appreciated more than the mountain of chocolates they receive at year end. We're going on a bear hunt.... :)

I forgot to say how much I also like the little frogs on the Enchanted Alphabet! So cute!

But I have to know, what is the Just Nan Butterfly Needlebook? Is it an old freebie or part of a bigger chart? I can't find it anywhere! :) (See I really do love it, I went hunting for it right away! :)

The green of the froggies really does look great on the Halloween piece.
Why not make the needlebook into a hanger for the wardrobe and fill it with lavender, its too pretty to be on a scrapbook page.

Congrats on great finishes Jo. I so love your rocks.

Your bell pulls are beautiful. They've gone straight onto my stitching list. In fact, I would happily add all your projrcts to my list! I love the rocks. You have many talents.

Lovely finishes, and well done fully finishing so quickly too! I like the scrapbook idea as then it will be displayed instead of unused.

Beautiful work on everything. I'm sure whatever you make your needle book into in will be beautiful.

Nice visitors have jumped on your work (without damage this time). Very nice finishes on the stitchings (I really need to test more beading on mine). xxx

Ahhh 'We're Going On a Bear Hunt!' - brings back so many memories of reading with the little sister. Your rock decorating is stunning. I hadn't realised you were designing the Enchanted Alphabet yourself; or at least adapted a pattern. I can't believe I missed that piece of information! Love the froggies x

Oh what a beautiful stone. It's We are going on a bear hunt right? I had been taught how to teach this book while on a teachers' development scholarship course in Canterbury. And I have taught the book many a time singing it too and making sounds and movements. Oh I loved the stone. Congrats. AriadnefromGreece!

Joy looks lovely, a wonderful finish.
Oh yes, those frogs are definitely scary, make sure they stay there! I love your additions to this one.
If you're not going to use it as a needlebook, I think it would be perfect in your scrapbook.
Your rocks look great, so colourful!
