Blogaversary Number Three!

Happy 3rd Blogaversary to me!

I'm about 3 and half in this picture, but my parents were really bad at writing on the backs of the photos so there are quite a few where I'm not sure if I'm three or four.  This tree was my "treehouse" when I was three, my sister and I used to have tea parties underneath it.  The pinafore I am wearing had the story of Little Red Riding Hood told in pictures, each panel had a different picture.  I don't know if you bought them like that or if they came as a kit that you made up.

Also, Happy Birthday to Calamity Jr and Susan Yellow Flower Meadow too.

WOW

Last year I was mainly stitching on Round Robins and monthly challenges.  The same is true for this year!  I have had a lot less finishes this year though.  This is deliberate because I am trying to focus on some of my bigger pieces rather than so many smalls as in the previous two years.

So what did I do on Sunday?  That's right, I stitched a totally random small project which doesn't fit in with any challenges, themes or targets at all.  So the only way to justify stitching it is to make it the prize for the blogaversary!  Sneaky, huh?

Here is the finished stitching:

Stitched on 19 count Ariosa Antique Rose
using Jodyri Threads ChaChaCha and DMC B5200

This is a freebie available on The Little Stitcher's FB page to promote her new Alice in Wonderland chart which is now on my wishlist!!

I can't decide how to finish this small piece, it's only 70 stitches by 35 stitches.  So this is where the competition comes in -

What weird and wonderful way should I finish my stitching?

The winner will get the weird and wonderful finished piece!!  The winner will be chosen by me based on how much I love the idea and how feasible it is.  I will also show the suggestions to the Large Boy first and see which ones he likes (he will unbiased as he doesn't know who anyone is!).  In fact I will probably write them down as they come in without anyone's name on so I forget who said what.

Back on track on Monday I stitched Block 10 of the Primitive Hare Spooky Countdown:

Finally, the School Easter Holidays started this week so we must be approaching Easter!  Which means, not long left to sign up for the Easter Treasure Hunt Blog Hop.  Click on the bunny to the right for more details.

  3. Goodness Happy 3rd Blogoversary :)Gosh your starts are good! Such a great blog thats why!
Love the little Alice in Wonderland stitch... its very cute. Thinking on how you can finish it.. but I am not really very good with things like that... still learning :) Maybe something connected to Alice In Wonderland in some way? Ha ha like use this as a lable around a bottle,... you know how Alice did 'drink me' ... or you could turn it into a book cover for the book? Or make it into a cute little dainty bag for a small girl...Sorry I said I was no good at this!
Your Spooky Countdown is just awesome... cannot wait to see that one finished.
YES!! The Easter Treasure Hunt Blog Hop... exciting times ahead!! :)
Smiles to you hoping you find the solution to finish your project! I will watch with interest!

  4. Where were you, Jo? I was living in Gibraltar on my 3rd birthday.
I did like Jacquie's drink me idea and the bag......are you up for some more stitching? A white rabbit! Mm, maybe not......I can hear you sigh from here! A bag for a little girl is my vote.....

  9. Happy blogaversay!! I wish we had closeups of that lovely dress!!

My weird and wonderful idea, to tie in with Alice, is to finish it as a tea cosy!! (Or possibly just a teaCUP cosy as it is so small! =)

  10. HAPPY BLOGAVERSARY!!!!!
I think it would look nice as something like a book mark or even just framed in a tiny frame!
    Keep up the amazing work!

  12. Happy Blogoversary Jo, a lovely pic of you and what a super dress too.
I think the design would make a lovely diary/notebook cover, the winner could enter details of important things then they would never be running around shouting 'I'm late for a very important date'

  13. Happy Blogoversary!
I think your "Alice" piece should be made into a little pouch for carrying a couple of fancy teabags around so you can have a tea party whenever you want. (Provided they have hot water I suppose!)

So cute photo of you ;)

Cute Alice one, rose fabric is adorable. Maybe a mini tag? (I'm doing one...so that's my idea...)

    Spooky Countdown is so pretty!

  19. Happy Blogaversary! How about finishing it as a humbug - it's the right shape (a rectangle which is about twice as wide as it is tall). You could then attach a long tail to it with a tassel at the other end to make it into a bookmark, similar to what Sue Hawkins does with her canvaswork humbugs. Nice to see your updated Countdown too :-)

  20. Happy Blogoversary!
The first thing I thought when I saw that photo was DRESS! Do Want. :D

Given the colours of the Alice stitch, I feel it needs some kind of Cheshire Cat theme to the finish :)

  23. Happy blogoversary, what a dress !
You could make a little flag on a woodstick sticked in a flower pot or a flower arrangement with an Alice theme (pansies, red small roses like in the movie song "all in the golden afternoon") xxx ;)

  27. Happy blogaversary!

You could finish your stitching as a magnet, or maybe as an insert in sleeping mask.

    Happy Blogaversary.
How about making it up into a make up bag with the design on the front flap and a mirror inset on the inside?

  31. Happy Blogoversary Jo!!! I love the stats! They are amazing because YOU are amazing my friend!! I don't know an unusual finish but you could turn it into a floss tag or a luggage bag tag?! I've seen Annie from Annie BeBop do luggage tags. Those are neat! HUGS!!!!

  32. Oh WOW indeed :) A Very Happy Blogaversary to you, and may you have a Very Merry Unbirthday too ;) I loved the Disney movie when I was a kid, especially the poor old moonraths outgrabing. And the Caterpillar with his smoke rings!

Re: finishing - I really like Julie's idea of a datebook, very fitting. And Jocondine's plant pick for a Golden Afternoon is so darn cute! I had thought of a little pocket or pouch to hold some packets of specialty teabags, to give as a gift to a Mad Hatter or Hatteress, LOL. Or a Dormouse, of course.

Love the way you shaped your stats into a tree, very clever. Your Little Red Riding Hood dress was so cute too :) Looking forward to the Easter Hop!

  34. Happy blogoversary!!!! I haven't got a clue what to suggest as a finish that hasn't already been said but it is a cute little design!

  35. As always, Jo, you are always stitching on something new and intriguing. I was reading back, and saw your gorgeous progress on Noel Blanc. Love the pretty blue linen that you chose for it.

You are an inspiration for so many of us, as you somehow manage to juggle so many things with your family, and keeping in touch with all of your stitchy bloggy friends.

    Blessings!

  36. Happy Blogaversary!

My finishing idea would be to finish it as a tag, possibly with either Eat me or drink me on the other side.

  37. Happy Blogaversary! I stayed away from the computer most of the last week and missed this! Great progress on Spooky Countdown. No idea on how to finish (it's why I have a box full of unfinished things) Thank you for the birthday wishes.

  40. Happy Blogoversary Jo! Great stats you have there, shows how much we love you and your blog.

You were a very cute 3 or 4 yr old, and your dress is very cool and chic. Should have come with a red hood.

I'm not sure how to finish Alice, I love the idea some people have to make it into a bottle apron.

Love to see how it ends up.

    Alicia xo
