Easter Treasure Hunt Blog Hop 2019

Welcome to this year's Easter Treasure Hunt Blog Hop; the bounciest, springiest Hop of them all!

First new finish - Mill Hill Daffodil Egg

The original kit was fully beaded on perforated paper but as the chart for this was passed on to me without the supplies I used a piece of 16 count yellow aida and the DMC equivalents to stitch this.  I needed a small project for my train journey last week and this was perfect.

Now on to the Hop.

As usual, I have a list of bloggers, each one was allocated a letter which will spell out the mystery phrase when you hop round in the order below.  A little clue this year - you may be confused to start with as the letters may not seem to spell out anything you can understand but persevere and all will become clear!

The first little bunny is:

then

and finally back to me for this letter:

Hopefully you have a phrase now!  Don't forget that some people will post later than others because of time zones.  Leave a comment telling me what you think the mystery phrase is.  I have enabled comment moderation so the answers will not appear for two weeks.  Closing date is Friday 3rd May, 2019.

My second finish was a new start last Easter so it is very fitting that it was finished for this Easter.  A lovely bright Springy design from Satsuma Street officially called Nest Egg but also referred to as "Goose in a Bonnet" as a nod to the 80s when I did not stitch those sorts of designs!

stitched on 32 count Marie's Daffodil by Chromatic Alchemy

Because the fabric was paler than the recommended fabric, I decided to backstitch the goose, the basket and the eggs to make them stand out a little but more.  For a lovely version on the recommended fabric - have a look at June's blog here - Butterfly Wings

This is how I have finished the piece for my Easter display:

I bought a felt basket from The Works and cut it apart to get a nice long line of "grass" which I stuck to the edge of the frame.  Then I "planted" the Mill Hill Egg in the grass!  Because the frame is a box frame, the trim doesn't obscure the stitching.

Finally, it is IHSW - International Hop & Stitch Weekend - or Hermit, whichever you prefer!  Enjoy the Blog Hop and make time for stitching inbetween the egg hunting!  Have a wonderful weekend.  Except for Alicia, the Crafty Princess who is working all weekend.  Hope it's a quiet and peaceful weekend instead!

Two ideal stitcheries for Easter, the pretty daffodil and the Goose in a Bonnet. I like the way you have used backstitching to make the design stand out on the yellow fabric and the finished display with the felt grass is lovely. Happy Easter Jo.

I need to take time to hop around, but I love your Mill Hill egg. I have several of the kits but dread doing all those beads. I may just steal your idea! Thanks for hosting the hop!

My guess is...partir a la chasse aux oeufs which is french for go to the Egg Hunt. You are insanely brilliant. I loved playing along and figuring it out.

The phrase is 'Patir à la chassse aux oeufs.' "Go hunting for eggs." Thank goodness for Google translate, because all my French could remember was 'something with eggs.' This was fun, and I enjoyed seeing all the blogs and getting stitching inspirations. 🐰🐤🍃

Very clever, Jo. It's over 50 yrs since I studied French at high school, but it looks like you've given us a French instruction to hunt for eggs:
Parti a la chase aux oeufs

I remember when you started the goose, and it is an adorable finish, especially with all your little details of the felt grass and Mill Hill egg! I really like it! Thanks for hosting the blog hop, it was so fun! The phrase I found is "Partir a la chasse aux oeufs" which, as a French student I did not need to look up in translation, it is "Go egg hunting" which my children will enjoy doing tomorrow morning! We put pennies and nickles and dimes in plastic eggs and hide them all over our yard (usually in the dark on Saturday night when they are all in bed). With 5 children hunting we usually hide over 100 eggs so everyone gets a full basket! In Arizona you can't hide candy overnight because we have ants that will get it, and chocolate melts before they can find it, so coins are a good solution. Happy Easter, Jo!

I absolutely love Nest Egg! It does look nice with the backstitching and it is understandable to need that goose to stand out :D

I think the phrase is French and sadly I could not put in the accents required here.

PARTIR LA CHASSE AUX OEUFS

You are such a teaser to put a phrase in French, it took me a while to find out but that a with the line on it gave me the clue. So let's go hunting for eggs. Lol! Thanks for organizing the Easter blog hop once again. I love the duck and how you finished it with all the trimmings at the shadow box. Have a great Easter. AriadnefromGreece!

Ooops got talking there and didn't write it in French, lol! Sorry.
So it is Partir a la chasse aux oeufs. My keyboard does not have the French a with the line on top. AriadnefromGreece.

All done hopping around collecting letters. Thanks for fun! Always love your blog hops. Love your two pieces. The way you finished Nest Egg is just perfect.

Lovely finishes. I've enjoyed watching you stitch your Nest Egg. OK ... so the phrase ... I have: "partira lachasseaux oeufs", which Google translates to "will leave the eggs". I'm sure I've put the spacing wrong or something. lol. Anyhow, I really enjoyed the blog hop & that's what it's all about. Thanks for hosting.

I just love your Goose in a Bonnet!! Your daffodil egg is so pretty too...

Thank you for hosting this blog hop. I'm sorry I wasn't able to participate this year. The phrase is Partir La Chasse Aux Oeufs. I think it's saying something about participating in a chase for eggs.

I love the egg, I don't remember seeing the Mill Hill Daffodil, I think I need to look for it!
I love the way you finished the Goose, the grass and flowers really makes it look even better.
Thanks for organizing another fun hop, I finally got to visit everyone this evening.

Astrids dragon said...

And that phrase, of course I had to look it up!
Partir la chasse aux oeufs = From the egg hunt. Can't say I've ever hear of that before.

Leonore Winterer said...

Oh, the goose looks great and you finished her perfectly! That egg looks good stitched as well.
So, after hopping all around, I believe the mystery phrase is 'Partir à la chasse aux oeufs' and if I remember my school-French correctly, that should be 'To go on the egg hunt'?

Lovely finishes for Easter. The addition of the backstitching on Nest Egg was a great success and what a clever way of finishing it off and by incorporating your Easter Egg finish too. :)

Thanks for hosting the hop again! Loooooovvvvvvveeeeee (!!!x20) the daffodil egg! I see you've survived stitching it on Aida haha. Great that you also finished off Goosey and the backstitching was a wise idea.

Well, I suppose this year's phrase is "lapins au chocolat"! Pardon my French. Maybe it's "partira la chasse aux oeufs" which is very fitting for your eggs! Here's the bonus à if the phrase needs it for Proper Frenchification.
