Welcome to the December Gifted Gorgeousness link-up. The link-up date continues to be the 15th and I will keep the link-up open until the end of each month so you have plenty of time if you are late posting.
The format remains exactly the same, there is a list of rules on the main sign-up page if you want to check what is required but basically anything connected to the word "gift" is allowed, whether it was a gift TO you or is a gift FROM you.
My main project for Gifted Gorgeousness has been my Discworld Mappe by Lyndisfarne Designs, which will be a gift for my son. This is where it was last GG:
and at the end of November:
And this is the portion I have been working on in December:
stitched on 32 count Murano custom-dyed by Sparklies
The stitching days have got shorter along with the daylight hours as there is so much else to do this time of year. But every stitch counts.
I did make it along to my last Crafty Coffee Morning this week, I am working next week. While I was there I completed the 25th Anniversary Cameo from Mirabilia. The fabric was a gift.
stitched on random 28 count hand-dyed evenweave
Love the beaded necklace
And the beaded tiara
The original called for some flower beads but I just used four of the black Mill Hill beads in a cluster instead.
Because I used a hand-dyed fabric I didn't stitch the cream of the cameo or the variegated threads which made up the shadows to the frame.
I have one more thing to show. This was a gift last Christmas, it went straight up on the tree and then got put away with the other stitched ornaments on Twelfth Night. Unfortunately I forgot to take a photo before I put it away. So when we got our tree today I made sure this ornament was the first thing to be hung on it and photographed:
This is a lovely Dragon Dreams design stitched for me by Ariadne from Greece. Thank you, Ariadne, greatly appreciated and loved!

Finally, the Advent Calendar Blog Hop is progressing nicely, doors opening every day and favourite films being shared. Don't forget to pop back each day and see what has been shared.
The cameo is amazing, breathtaking! Closer pictures are great and pay tribute to the delicate work and the elegant chart. Well done! xxx
ReplyDeleteSuch a surprise to see my ornament. Thank you so much. I wish I felt more happy to stitch this Christmas too. I hope I will start again with the new year. Have a great holiday. AriadnefromGreece!
ReplyDeleteThank you again, for hosting GG. You have come a long way on the mappe! It's looking wonderful! I love the anniversary piece from Mirabilia! The fabric, the changes you made in the beading...everything! It's perfect (I especially love the fabric). This is the time of year we have trouble finding time for stitching, but hopefully you'll finish all the other "stuff" and find time to enjoy your stitching once again. Thanks again for making blogging (and stitching!!) fun! (I set up the little nativity you gave me last year today...what a lovely surprise that was!) Happy Stitching!
ReplyDeleteWow! the Mappe is really growing! It looks wonderful!
ReplyDeleteJo: I am seeing such progress in Discworld, it is an amazing design.
ReplyDeleteThe Silhouette is beautiful, the fabric is a lovely color.
Dragon Stitch design is so sweet, the trim is very interesting, did you make it? just curious.
Merry Christmas
Catherine

Ooooh, I love the little dragon! Well done Ariadne! He’s so sweet ..... funny that, made me think of the cute dragon in the Waitrose advert!

ReplyDeleteI'll be super late posting again this month...now I have all my Christmas crafting done, but don't have the pictures with me! I feel cursed, but WILL get it up in time.
With 4 hours 25 mins to spare as per Indian time, I have linked up...though not much to show
