This SAL is all about what you want to see on the blog. I asked for suggestions for themes and then put them up to the members of the IHSW Group on FB to vote for their choice. Now we are working through the choices. This is what has been chosen:
A blog trying to focus on all the nice things in life, those moments when everything turns out right. Finding the perfect fabric for that chart you love, the ideal sampler quote, just the right picture in all the 1000s of magazines you own. Meeting people who share your interests and obsessions and totally understand why you NEED that chart when you already have enough to last until you're 104

The People Chose Pets
July - Pets
August - Outer Space
September - Sea Creatures
I know a lot of bloggers have pets, they feature quite often on blogs, possibly more than children do because they are less likely to object to being talked about online!
We don't have any at the moment but if we did it would be a cat. Both my family and my husband's family had cats when we were growing up. As well as the usual collection of rodents and goldfish. We did have a dog for a while who was part guard-dog, part nursemaid and part dopey creature who loved the sound of the cine-camera so every film has her tail in it! She got out one day, met the dogs over the road and had 8 part-doberman puppies who were adorable with huge feet!
Here's a favourite photo of me holding our kittens, I remember this moment very clearly. I was about 3 or 4 and those kittens were wriggly!
So it's probably not a surprise to learn that most of my pet stitching is cat based!
This gorgeous kitten design is called Max's Moon and was a Bucilla kit:
This was another kit and features a Lesley Anne Ivory design:
This gorgeous pair of cats are looking down at a design from Tra-La-La which was sent off to be made into a quilt for the Cats Protection League:
And just to prove it's not all cats here, this one is a guinea pig based on the colours of my son's favourite toy when he was little:
And now it's over to you. All you have to do is make a post on the theme of Series of Pets, mention The People's Choice SAL (you can copy the picture I used at the top of this post and in my side bar) and my blog. Please link up using the URL of the actual blog post, not the home page of your blog. I look forward to seeing what you all post.

Finally, I need your suggestions for the next poll. Anything, no matter how obscure, weird or random will go into the poll. Keep the theme suggestions to a single word or two - so you could have Elephants, or Green, or Holidays, or Warmth etc. Really anything which could be illustrated in cross stitch.
I really love the Max's moon pattern and how the light shines on his fur. The India pig (as we called them) is great, often with a funny and surprised look. xxx
ReplyDeleteLove the photo .
ReplyDeleteLots of lovely stitching , enjoy your Sunday .
Those are great kits! I love all the patterns on striped cat on an also striped carpet!
ReplyDeleteAww, I love that picture of you Jo! :)
ReplyDeleteThe guinea pig stitch is super! We had a guinea pig named Gracie who lived to be 8 I believe it was. Our children loved her very much growing up.
Your cat stitching are very nice. We're without pets and I'm enjoying it frankly. Growing up we always had dogs; but they were outside dogs...I think most were back in those days. Dogs didn't really sleep on people's pillows, they were work dogs on the farm and things similar. When hubby and I first got married we got a cat...not on purpose. My IL had several and was rescuing a cat that she decided I should have. Well then that cat got pregnant, and we ended up with 2. One from the liter that I couldn't find a home for. But, after many years they past and we travel alot so they weren't replaced. Cleaning is easier without the hair, and my yarn is safer then it sometimes was when we had the cats, lol. Yes, there are several amusing stories associated with that comment.

This is such a fun post, love the photo of you holding the kittens.
ReplyDeleteMax's Moon is so adorable, the Ivory Design is lovely, pretty Tra La La for the Cats Protection League, cute little guinea pig card.
I do not have any stitched cat designs but do have some fun photos on my blog.

Oh my gosh, that guinea pig is too cute!
ReplyDeleteLove that little piggie! As you can see from my post, I have a weakness for them.
ReplyDeleteI love cats, too, so I love your post! I especially love Max's Moon! And you are just the cutest in that photo with your little pixie cut--adorable :)
ReplyDeleteMax's Moon is great, a very old design but one which has stood the test of time. Love the little piggy too... so cute! Thanks for hosting! :)
ReplyDeleteI like all your kitty stitches! The picture of you holding the kittens is so sweet! What cuties!
ReplyDeleteI am currently petless as well after our last cat died at Christmas 2020 after we moved during the pandemic. I'm eager to get another cat or two once we finally get everything unpacked!
ReplyDeleteYour stitching is lovely as usual, and I appreciate the kick to get another blog post up...fair warning though...there are LOTS of pictures of pet stitching on my blog post this time, most are cats, but a few dogs and horses as well.
Ever done a biscornu posting? If not, I suggest that as a future topic!
