Hosted by Rachel the Ten Hour Stitcher
This SAL is designed to motivate us all to do something with that box of Finished pieces instead of just storing them under the bed. We will all be linking up on Rachel's blog on or after the 10th of each month (10 Hour Stitcher - 10th of the month).
Let's do the Big FFO first:
We chose a simple rich brown frame with a gold edging. This really is one of my favourite styles of frame, after plain black for Hallowe'en!
Here's a close-up of the corner so you can see the frame a little better:
It really is worth taking the time to find a decent framer who understands how to frame cross stitch and will appreciate the effort you put into stitching a piece. I only get my larger pieces professionally framed and I ask for vouchers as Christmas presents to help with the cost.
And some smaller pieces, two new finishes from this year's Just Cross Stitch Hallowe'en Ornament Special. The first is Mosaic Halloween by Twisted Willow Designs:
stitched on 32 count Platinum linen
I love the colours, I thought 1970s and Christine said Clarice Cliff. I also loved the chequerboard grass, just a fun design to stitch.
I scrapbooked it with two other Autumnal designs, Autumn by Lizzie*Kate and Little Owl Sampler by Knotted Tree NeedleArt:
stitched on 32 count Platinum linen
Finally, there will be a Hallowe'en Trick or Treat Blog Hop as usual this year. I am sure you all know how it works but for those who need a reminder - here's a link to last year's
If you want to take part, just leave a comment here or email me if you are a "no reply" person. I need an email address for you to take part in this hop.
Your Discworld looks soooo good framed. I like the simplicity of the wood lifted by that gold highlight. perfect.

You do such amazing work, it even impressed my husband! I totally agree about finding the right person to frame bigger pieces. All that hard work is worth the right finish. I am looking forward to the Halloween blog hop.

Wonderful work Jo, I love how the Discworld has turned out and the frame you have chosen which does not take your eye away from the embroidery. I also like the autumn colours of the Mosaic Halloween. I have managed to stitch something for Halloween, so please add me to your Trick or Treat blog hop.
ReplyDeleteFabulous frame for your Discworld Mappe! You must be so happy. Lovely Halloween stitching too.
ReplyDeleteThe Discworld Mappe is spectacular. All I can think is WOW and it must be stunning in person! Congratulations! Your Halloween stitching is adorable! I especially do like that Twisted Willow design. Darling scrapbook finish as well! Do you keep your scrapbook pages in an actual scrapbook or do you display them another way? Have a great week!
ReplyDeleteIt's all so beautiful and amazing!! Congratulations!!
ReplyDeleteI'm so far behind in my blog reading, but at least I'm here for this post!
ReplyDeleteWow, Discworld Mappe looks fantastic finished and framed, he must be thrilled to have it! Is he keeping it in his room or sharing with others in another part of the house?
Your autumn pieces look great scrapbooked together.
Yes, please count me in for the hop!
You chose a lovely frame for Discworld. I love your Autumn finishes.
ReplyDeleteI love the frame you picked! I sympathize with your framer, it must not have been easy getting those lines straight.
ReplyDeleteOh so many beauties. Glad I caught up to see them all. The frame for the mappe looks perfect.
ReplyDeleteOh wow! It looks amazing framed!
ReplyDeleteLove the little Hallowe'en finishes too
Discworld is so amazing! Your framer did such a lovely job getting it lined up too x
ReplyDeleteThanks for joining in.
ReplyDeleteDiscworld looks A-MAZ-ING! The specially hand-dyed fabric really shows up now that it's hanging on the wall, and with so much going on in the design it didn't need anything more than a simple frame. Did your eldest have a happy 18th?
In complete size-contrast, Downdraft is just as stunning. :)
Discworld really looks great! I should really try and find a professional framer some time, but for now I am very content with what Felix can do. The scrap books look great as well, love your new Halloween smalls!
ReplyDeleteYour Discworld Mappe looks better every time I see it. You have a good selection of Halloween and Autumn 'smalls' this year.
