Finishing Fun After a Month of New Starts!

I'm limbering up for the Longest Day Marathon later this month by trying to clear a few WIPs!  Ideally I'd like to have 26 or fewer by 22nd June in order to spend 30 minutes on each one and still have time to eat and look after Small Boy.

The first finish this week is one of Satsuma Street's Zodiac designs; Libra with two birds representing my husband and my older son.  This is the second design from the series I have stitched, the first being Virgo for me.

The colours are gorgeous on these designs, they really pop against the black fabric.  They are a quick stitch too.  15 days in total.

after 4 days of stitching

 after 7 days of stitching

after 11 days of stitching

The next project to be finished is a band sampler I've been working on just one or two days a month, totalling 9 days altogether.  This is a former class project I was gifted; Diamond Bouquet:

The chart came with the beads and the ribbon which is couched in place by speciality stitches.

There are so many different stitches in this design which made it great fun to stitch.

Finally, I mentioned The Longest Day Marathon earlier.  This will be taking place on Friday 22nd June this year.  The Longest Day is Thursday 21st but I have my Toddler Group and an afternoon tea for a friend's birthday that day.  I will be posting photos live on the IHSW Facebook page and then doing a recap post here.  If anyone wants to join me, either on the day or at the weekend that would be brilliant!

  1. I agree, the colors of the zodiac are so bright and pretty against the black!

  2. Both are so different and look fantastic; one bold and one subtle. If you're planning on getting down to 26 WIPs let's hope we see more finishes here soon. :)

  3. I think it's a good idea to finish some of these WIPs before the longest-day-stitching starts. These two are really great, I love them both. Libra is such a colourful design, amazing on the black fabric. And the JN band sampler has a lot of charm, like all of her band samplers.
Unfortunately I can't join you this year because I'm not stitching a lot these days.

I am trying to catch up with my stitching WIPs too.

But just can't find much time this year I can't plan ,I just stitch when I can

But one day I will join you . Have a great day.

  8. Yipee! I will have to join the IHSW Facebook group so I can see what you are doing. I am not sure if I will stitch Thursday or Friday. My dd is working all day Thursday, so that may work. Hmmmm.

  9. Love the zodiac piece, and your sampler looks great, Jo!
In fact, your couching has just given me an idea of how to finish my phone pouch, thank you!
Look forward to seeing how you progress on the longest day.
    Hugs,

  15. Wow I bow to you again for stitching on 28ct black evenweave. Congrats on your finishes. Love the colours! I will join you on the longest day on the 22nd. You will be proud of me that I have reduced my wips from 56 to 48. But I won't be able to work on them all so will pick just 1 for the day.

  16. Reducing your WIPs before the Longest Day SAL - that's clever! I love them both. The Satsuma Street designs really shine on the dark fabric, and I adore Just Nan's band samplers!
I'm still pondering whether I want to participate in the SAL...maybe I'll do a Longest Weekend, so I'll have time to spread things out a little bit!

  17. Two lovely designs Jo, Don´t think I could stitch on black but the result is really striking. Beautiful Diamond Bouquet sampler, love the added speciality stitches.
