This is the Ornament SAL hosted by Stitching Lotus
I have three different ornament challenges running this year, the JBW Alphabet Cat stitched in a different colour scheme each month, the Dragon Dreams 12 Dragonlets of Christmas, a FB exclusive and the Hallowe'en Ornie SAL blog.
I wanted a spring blossom feel for the Alphabet Cat and chose green thread on pink fabric. I'm not 100% certain about this colour scheme and am still wondering whether to stitch it again in pink on green. I also can't decide which backing fabric to choose either! So which do you prefer? Option 1, 2 or 3?
Here is the fifth Dragon Dreams FB exclusive Dragonlet of Christmas, Five Gold Rings:

Option 1 - Gingham |
Option 2 - Random Floral |
Option 3 - Geometric Floral |

The choice for May's Hallowe'en Ornie was Ghosts. This is a sweet little design from JCS 2012 Hallowe'en Ornie Special issue. A new designer for me, Val's Stuff:
And here he is with the backing fabric I'm planning to use:
Boo is stitched on 32count twilight blue linen, it is very stiff! The stars are little smyrna crosses.
Finally, I've told a couple of people that the theme for the Summer Blog Hop is "No Place Like Home" as suggested by the Needlecraft Haven choice for last month. I'll do a proper official announcement at the beginning of June. I'm saving it for a day when there's not much stitching to show.
ps don't forget to chose your favourite backing fabric, leave a comment. Thank you.
Great stitching. I like option 1 for the cat finish...he's cute!

Well, I think your kitty cat looks cute stitched green-on-pink, and I like Option #1, the pink gingham, because it will let your stitching shine and because gingham always reminds me of Spring :)
ReplyDeleteThe little Dragonlets are so cute - is the series still available on Facebook? I'm not on the site, but I think I might sign up for them ;)
Re: Your ghostie - the batty bat backing fabric is SO CUTE! The little moons and stars pick up the crescent on the front perfectly :)
Very cute finishes. I like the gingham for the cat backing - the others look too heavy and gingham always said spring or summer to me.
ReplyDeleteOption 1. The others feel too heavy.
ReplyDeleteI think the gingham is preppy like the pink and green cat. I love option 3 but not so much for this as for me to have in my stash! ;)
ReplyDeleteI agree with the others: go with the gingham.
ReplyDeleteI also opt for the 1st, this is the nicest
ReplyDeleteI like the pink gingham for the cat. Pink and Green were the colors for my wedding - I think they are a good choice...
ReplyDeleteGreat ornaments Jo. I too like option 1.
ReplyDeleteLinda
My vote is for option three!
ReplyDeleteHi Jo, very pretty. I love your JBW cat SAL. Who are you doing it with? My vote is most definitely for Option 3.
ReplyDeleteNice cat! I like option 3
ReplyDeleteLovely ornaments Jo. I'm badly outvoted but I really like option 2.
ReplyDeleteLovely stitching..I love the Hallowe'en finish.
ReplyDeleteMy vote for the backing fabric is no.2 a complete contrast to your green cat's gentle thread and fabric colour.
Look forward to seeing your final decision:-)
Lots of great stitching I would go for the second fabric option.
ReplyDeleteLovely ornaments, congratulations
ReplyDeleteI think I would go with the gingham to back the cat
Hmmmm...option 1 would be my first choice I think but I like the second too. I LOVE that bat fabric - but obviously for 'Boo' not for the cat :)
ReplyDeleteThree ornament SALs, that keeps you busy, I'm sure, lol. Great new ornaments indeed.
ReplyDeleteFor the cat I'd take option #1.
I think the gingham fabric will look pretty with this little cat... I believe we're a few to think that too! :D I love that Boo ornament. It is just perfect & the fabric with the bat... a match made for Halloween! x
ReplyDeleteooOoo! I like option #3. =)
ReplyDeleteMy fave is option 2. Now if you had green gingham...
ReplyDeleteI wanted to thank you for your inspiration. I have followed your alphabet cat progress and have finally decided to stitch my own. I used black thread on a muted pumpkin colord fabric. I might have to do a couple more just give him a few friends. :)
Option 1 would be my choice.
ReplyDeleteYou've been busy this month.
Option 2 for me - great stitching Jo.
ReplyDeleteGreat stitching on your ornaments. I like option 3 if you want a contrast, but option 1 if you want a complimentary fabric. Hope this helps.
ReplyDeleteThe kitty looks great! I vote for option 1 :D I really love how they look together
ReplyDeleteHi!!
ReplyDeleteOption 1! Pretty ornament!
So cute your halloween ornament! Love the cotton fabric for it.
Hugs x
Lots of lovely stitching here. I think that I also prefer Option 1 for the finishing on the cat. I stitched this little cat a few years ago in blue but have yet to complete the final finishing.
ReplyDeleteI vote for gingham! Boo is adorable and your backing fabric for him is perfect.
ReplyDeleteGreat ornaments!
ReplyDeleteBoooo to you!! Lol ;) Cute!!
ReplyDeleteI vote for fabric number 2 :) but all look lovely!
Great finishes!
ReplyDeleteI like the first fabric choice for the cat. ;)
Wow you got a lot of ornaments done! I would go with the gingham fabric for the cat!
ReplyDeleteHave to go with no 2!! Love that fabric :)
ReplyDeleteLove the fabric that you are using for Boo
