June Stitch from Stash and Pie

It's the end of the month and time to look back at my Pie:

It was quite a Spooky June because of my WIPGO Board which called two spooky projects plus I wanted to try and get a block completed on Hallowe'en at Hawk Run Hollow.

Being back at work took three days out of the stitching rotation as I only get my lunchbreak and bath-time stitching done those days.  I stitched the Just Nan Band Sampler during my breaks.

Stoney Creek took four days because they turned out to be short days plus I had to backstitch Day 5.

The Scary Apothecary design was speeding along until I got to the full coverage orange section:

Just Nan's Scream House lost half a day thanks to the fabric shrinking so I had to start again after just one row of stitching.  Could have been worse!

That finished here, with not quite one wall stitched:

The Longest "Day" took two days, thanks to work again!

Which just leaves Hallowe'en at Hawk Run Hollow.  I couldn't quite finish the block this month but there is just a cat, a bat and some spiders left to go.  I'm going to pop in a couple of days next month and complete them.

Stitch from Stash was good again, only my Cross Stitcher magazine subscription and that is exempt.

Finally, I'm going to be taking sign-ups for my Summer Blog Hop on the same theme as last year - Stitching Friends are Friends Who Count. Have a look at this post for last year and let me know if you'd like to take part this year.

June WIPocalypse Half Year Goals

      WIPocalypse

WIPocalypse is hosted by Measi's Musings

Each month we have to share the projects we want to complete before the End Of The World.  Since 2011 I have chosen a number of projects to focus on that year, starting with my "11 in '11" and increasing to "21 in '21" for this year.  This month I stitched on 14 of them thanks to the Longest Day Marathon!  I met 1 WIPGO Goal.

These are the ones I stitched outside the Marathon:

1. Ernie Bishop NOEL Letters - a Finish!
stitched on 28 count linen

10. Stoney Creek 12 Days of Christmas

stitched on 32 count Lime Green Linen

11. Carriage House Samplings Halloween at Hawk Run Hollow

stitched over 1 on 25 count Cassia Rose evenweave from Chromatic Alchemy

15. Hands on Design Scary Apothecary Cauldron Cleaner

stitched on 28 count Radioactive Linen from Chromatic Alchemy

17. Just Nan Follow the Needle

stitched on 28 count Lilac Brittney evenweave

The full list can be seen here - WIPocalypse and 21 in 21

Measi always gives us a topic to discuss too.

June - Half-year recap: How are you doing with your goals so far this year?

Doing great so far!  Out of my 21 in '21 I have 5 finishes including my oldest WIP.  I have stitched on all of them except two which are scheduled as starts for later in the year.

My second goal is the WIPGO Board.  I set 25 goals at the start of the year and each month work on the two numbers called by the WIPGO Admin.  Here's what my Board looks like now:

13 numbers have been called already and I have completed 9 of them so far.  1 and 10 are being worked on at the moment and should be completed in July.   Number 17 will be completed in October and number 24 by the end of August.

June Smalls

The Smalls SAL is hosted by Mary's Thread

This year my Smalls will be the Stoney Creek 12 Days of Christmas 2019 Ornament series which I started on Boxing Day 2020 for the 12 Days of Stitchmas.

June was Six Geese A'Laying, well only one goose actually:

I also added the backstitch to the Five Gold Rings from last month:

I added June to my Tiny Modernist Calendar:

stitched on 32 count Summer Sky Belfast linen from Silkweavers

And celebrated the Summer Solstice with Litha from The Primitive Hare:

stitched on 35 count Cream Linen

In May I completed my Just Nan-a-thon where I stitched on a different Just Nan Small each day.  In June I continued working on the oldest one which is Pansy Basket.

I started this one in May 2018 on Day 16:

Continued in 2019:

And 2020:

And 2021:

Isn't it strange how different the fabric looks each year?  Here is the completed piece ready for FFO'ing:

The filigree basket charm makes it a little lumpy to scrapbook so I am going to get a frame for this one.

Longest Day Marathon 2021

This was my sixth annual Marathon for The Longest Day.  I always attempt this as close as possible to the Summer Solstice which was Monday 21st June this year.  Unfortunately I had to work in the morning so I stitched one project at breakfast time, and the rest when I returned from work.  I continued on Tuesday to get them all included.

09.00 Joan Elliott Face SAL

stitched and counted very, very carefully to outline a block:

13.30 Chatelaine Gardens of London

added some roses to the border:

14.00 Nora Corbett Gathering Eggs

filled in some white cloud:

14.30 Amanda Butler Alice in Wonderland
couldn't find the beads I needed then the phone rang for an important call.

15.00 Lin Pulsion Bubbles of Happiness

added medium blue to one bubble

15.30 Various Designers Mini Haunted Village

filled in the windows:

16.00 Just Nan Scream House

filled in some of the ghost:

16.30 Stoney Creek 12 Days of Christmas

added some holly leaves:

18.30 Mirabilia Fairy Idyll

added some cream to her skirt:

19.00 Bothy Thread 12 Days of Christmas

started the olive green background to Day 2:

19.30 Hands on Design Scary Apothecary

started the second cat:

20.00 CCN Main Street Spooky Conversion

finished the awning and added the ironwork for the sign:

20.30 Just Nan Follow the Needle

started the second row of over one lettering:

21.30 Just Nan Pansy Basket

added some green leaves:

And so to bed.

The next day started with a trip to the dentist for my son so the stitching started at

10.00 Craft Collection Art Nouveau Head

added some medium brown to the piece at the top:

10.30 Yiota's X Stitch Coffee Fairy

a bit more cream cup:

11.00 Kustom Krafts Little Snapdragon

added some blue to the wing:

11.30 Papillon Creations Around the World in 80 Stitches

stitched some green border:

12.45 Scarlet Letter English Transitional Sampler

added some more Holbein Stitching:

13.15 Mrs Peggotty Queen of Hearts

Stitched on the left hand border:

13.45 Amanda Butler Alice in Wonderland

still couldn't find the beads so I just did a tiny bit of backstitch vine to say I had worked on this:

14.15 Tiny Modernist Calendar

finished the borders:

14.45 Carriage House Samplings Halloween at Hawk Run Hollow

my final project so I just kept stitching until teatime and finished her apron:

As I discovered last year, it is not as much fun as when I do it all in one day.  Tuesday was actually better because I started earlier in the day and felt I was getting more done.

But I succeeded in stitching on ALL 22 of my WIPs, and having a nice little WIP Parade for you all.
