It's TUSAL time!
Here is my TUSAL tin with my current project:
This was a new start last Friday called for by my WIPGO Board - Hallowe'en at Hawk Run Hollow from Carriage House Samplings. I have loved the HRH designs since I first saw them and said "if they bring out a Hallowe'en one I will stitch it". So here it is:
stitched over one on 25 count Cassia Rose from Chromatic Alchemy
You can see from the cover photo that the finished piece is quite large so I wanted a high count. It was either 40 over 2 or 25 over 1. Using 25 count meant I could buy a standard 18 x 26 cut and have a nice margin for framing.
I am using DMC as charted but I might use a subtle variegated for the pumpkin in this block and the one next to it. Some of those blocks are full-coverage so this is a long term project. Ideally I'd like to get four blocks completed this year.
What's on my Shelf?
This is a new feature I'm going to include on my TUSAL post until I run out of books! I started a Page on my Happy Dance blog for my Stitching Library and realised what a huge task it was so decided to break it down to one book per month. For the next four years...
The first book we are going to look at is one I've used a couple of times for small designs.
Title: 365 Tiny Cross Stitch Designs
Author: Kooler Design Studios
Publisher: ASN Publishing
ISBN: 035409937329 or 9780881959437
I love these mini samplers, Vickie has stitched these for her cubby which inspired me to buy the book

Actually, there are 366 because they give you a leap year design too! There are several monthly series within the book (Zodiax, teapots, wreaths) as well as various season stitches. Mostly in the "cute" vein.
I love these mini samplers, Vickie has stitched these for her cubby which inspired me to buy the book
and these Bride's Tree Ornaments for Leonore and Felix:
Those were not actually a series, I just picked various designs from throughout the book to suit the theme for each ornament. You can read more about them on my blog post - Bride's Tree Ornaments
Hope you enjoyed this look at a book, if you have one you would like to share please make a post and leave a comment letting me know.

Finally, I have all the photos from the Secret Sweethearts so I will be sending them out tomorrow ready for our Hop on Sunday.
What a good idea to post about your books.
ReplyDeleteGood looking TUSAL and I love your new idea to show off your books! Great start on Halloween at Hawk Run Hollow, too.
ReplyDeleteThe zodiac signs look a great stitch .
ReplyDeleteI love monthly stitching too.
Have a good week.
I'm not usually a big Halloween stitch fan, but that sampler looks super cool!
ReplyDeleteLove your Halloween at HRH start. I bought that chart last year and really do need to start it. I think I might have that same book.
ReplyDeleteLinda
Yes, 365 Tiny Cross Stitch Designs is a great book!
ReplyDeleteI do like the book post idea great idea.
ReplyDeleteGreat photo of your orts. I love the way we all stitch different themes throughout the year, Halloween in February! Great book idea too
ReplyDeleteI can't believe you are doing Halloween on Hawk Run Hallow on 25 count! It will be gorgeous!
ReplyDeleteI love the Hawk Run series too, I have a few of them, I even have one kitted up! One of these days I'm going to pull mine out and stitch it too! I like the idea of variegated thread for the pumpkins!! I love the idea of what's on the shelf...I have so many books I should do this with you...I'll have a think about it. I have a few books like this (even one from Kooler Designs) but I don't think I have this one, though some of the designs look familiar. I can't wait for your next post!
ReplyDeleteThe Halloween Hawks Run is a good design. I love your fabric choice.
ReplyDeleteI look forward to seeing more of your books.
What a good idea to post about your books. I have never had any inclination to buy cross stitch books so it'll be interesting to see what's in your collection. :)
ReplyDeleteI like your what's on the bookshelf idea. I have a few cross stitch books, but never remember to look at them, this is a good reminder. Very nice start on your Hawk Run Hollow piece. I like the fabric you picked.
ReplyDeleteWhat a fun start! It might take a while but each block will be like a mini finish as well.
ReplyDeleteLove your book intro idea as well...this one seems like fun, the ornaments you stitched for us were so cute and it seems most what's in the book is just as nice.
Great start on your HRH! I have yet to start mine, I like yours on 25.
ReplyDeleteI have some stitching books, most of them are Christmas, but I do have a small variety of other smalls. You have plenty to keep you busy!
