Each month we have to share the projects we want to complete before the End Of The World.
Since 2011 I have chosen a number of projects to focus on that year, starting with my "11 in '11" and increasing to "20 in '20" for this year. This month I stitched on 3 of them.

(Project 17)
The issue with the final block arrived this week and it is very disappointing. They have chosen the King and Queen of Hearts from the Courtroom scene at the end of the book. But the stitched version just isn't as well defined as the other blocks. So, as I suspected, I will be charting my own Queen of Hearts from this iconic illustration:
I used my iPad as a light box and traced her outline onto graph paper. Then I drew the details. I coloured in the squares of the graph paper and copied them onto another piece of graph paper. This will be the version I stitch from. Once I have completed all the colours, I will go back and draw the backstitch on top. This will probably be partially freehanded as I stitch. Wish me luck!
The Queen will go in the bottom left block which leaves the bottom right block empty. I am undecided between the Caterpillar or Alice and the Playing Cards:
What do you think? The caterpillar is one of my favourite characters but the Alice scene fits better as the final block. The sampler is pretty much in story order, except for the Tweedles who are not even in the book!
Finally, Measi always gives us a topic to discuss:
November – What new discoveries did you have in the stitching world this year?
I can't think of any new techniques I learned this year or stitching groups. I think Autumn Lane Stitchery would be my "Designer Discovery" of the year. I really like their style and their YouTube channel is great fun.
I only have one chart so far but I need to add more and get them into my rotation!

You're doing a super job keeping up with your focus projects; they're all looking great! Good luck with getting the Queen into the one block but I think you can do it. I'm with you on Alice being in that last block. Looks like a fun SAL to take part in. Stay safe and healthy!
You have certainly accomplished a lot this year. I like the Alice in Wonderland but your illustration seems to fit better. All the best with charting your own.
You are so close to finishing both Alice and the 12 Days. Wonderful projects!
Super work both in stitching and how much you do. Alice is looking amazing.
and to think that I remember 2011 and the start of some of those projects... I do like your Alice and especially charting your own version of the Queen of Hearts. I think Alice would be a fitting finish for the bottom right hand corner. The blue colour of her dress would balance out the whole sampler
Jo: You have such lovely designs going, I am truly loving Gardens Of London, so very pretty.
I hope you are having a great day

I love your Alice sampler. I think Alice with the cards would look best to go with the other blocks. I do not think I could chart my own design. Looking forward to seeing how yours comes out.
Sorry that you aren't happy with it but looks like you will figure it out. I look forward to seeing what you create.
How disappointing that the Alice sampler confirmed your worst fears. I agree that Alice and the playing cards would balance the project, but there are already cards on the sampler but not the Caterpillar. Seeing as The Tweedles aren't in the book (and I don't know how the story runs) might you consider frogging them and replacing them with the Caterpillar? In the meantime, good luck with your charting. :)
Nice progress on your Garden and 12 Days looks great.
I saw the final block and yours should be much better, I'm looking forward to seeing it! I think the Caterpillar would make a nice addition since there are other Alices.
I prefer your choice of Queen of Hearts rather than the magazine design of the king and queen.
Much as I like Alice with the playing cards, I think I would be tempted to stitch the caterpillar as you haven't already got it in the design.
I love how these gardens are filling out and really looking forward to you starting the next part!
What a shame about the Alice sampler - I kind of like it going in story order, but then the Tweedles make no sense! And the caterpillar really is missing...it's a tough decision for sure!
