After completing my days for Discworld, I spun my Tiny Decisions App which chose the Brooke's Books Stitcher's Alphabet.  Yesterday's post is all about that one.

The next project chosen by the app was my oldest WIP; Ernie Bishop's Noel Letters.  I had started N for the Marathon so for the final two days of the month, I completed N and then started the little floral bouquets for N and O:

It is easier to do them colour by colour as all four are the same.

Final project to share, is my Bath-time stitch which is Just Nan's Holly Noel:

The DMC are not for anything specific, just to replace skeins which are running low in my master set.  Because of the price of DMC, I rarely "kit" anything up with a separate skein.  I just pull from the master set.  The exception is larger projects, such as Discworld and my Chatelaine where dyelots are important.  There seems to be a lot of green in the bag, must be all the Just Nan smalls!

Finally, the Summer Blog Hop.  Anyone want to do a Summer Blog Hop this year?  I thought we could do a Know Your Blogging Friends Hop.   I allocate you the name of a fellow blogger and you make a post about them, showing something you think they would like to stitch.   Could be something you have stitched or something you found online you think they would like to stitch.

Brooke's Books Stitcher's Alphabet Book Finally Finished

I am very excited to be able to show you this FFO.  So excited I didn't even want to wait until 10th July and Rachel's FFO Gallery!

I started this way back in August 2015 as part of The Alphabet Club.  For 26 months I stitched one block per month and then planned to finish it into a cloth book.

I stitched it on an afghan fabric which I cut into a long thin piece.

Here are the individual pages of the book:

I actually finished the stitching in September 2017 and there it sat until this year when I decided to add it to my WIPocalypse and actually fully finish the thing.

The first thing I did was add a title - My Alphabet Book, a bar code and an ISBN to the back:

And, yes, that is a real ISBN.  Look it up and see why it is appropriate.

The barcode also matches that book as close as I could make it.

Then came the tricky part, sewing it together.  What I did was fold over the top edge along the thicker woven part and whipstitched the top of the first page to the top of the page with D,E,F and G.  Then whipstitched the page with H,I,J and K to L,M,N and O.  and so on.

Then I turned it over and did the same with the bottom of the book pages.

Then I cut four pieces of thin card to size and slipped one inside each page, the openings are at the spine end of the book.  Finally I took the two half pages from the beginning and end of the alphabet and whip stitched them to the page with X,Y and Z.   The orange selvedge marker makes a nice line down the centre of the back of the book.

Since 2011 I have chosen a number of projects to focus on that year, starting with my "11 in '11" and increasing to "20 in '20" for this year.  This month I stitched on all of the active ones thanks to The Longest Day Marathon.  I also managed to finish 2 of them.

June  – Half-year recap: How are you doing with your goals so far this year?
I am doing very well so far thanks to The Art of Setting Achievable Goals!  Out of my 20 WIPocalypse projects I have completed 8 so far this year with another 6 on target for completion by the end of the year.  The rest are up for debate at the moment but hopefully some will get done.

Here is my current WIP list in total  I started the year with 15 WIPs.  The first column of numbers shows the year they were started.  The second column is how many I have now.  I have also started 18 projects this year and completed 15 of them.  The remaining three will all be completed this year.  My goal is not to start anything which doesn't have a finishing deadline within the year.

June Smalls

The Smalls SAL is hosted by Mary's Thread

This year my Smalls will be my JBW 12 Days of Christmas ornaments which I started on Boxing Day 2019 for the 12 Days of Stitchmas.  I completed the Sixth Day in June:

Next up were the three Holly Berry Snowflakes.  I completed all the stitching and added some of the beads during my Longest Day Marathon.  I just need another hour to finish the beading off and then FFO them.

Then I moved on to a non-Just Nan design for one I really wanted to fit into the rotation this year.  This was one of the freebie designs released for the Be Well SAL at the beginning of the corona virus pandemic when we were all advised to stay indoors and stitch.

I love this little Quarantine House by My Fanny Designs and you can find it here on her Instagram account. She has designed a few projects in cloches and they seem perfect for people in lockdown.

After that, I went back to Just Nan and the next design in the list, Holly Noel:

Finally, the lovely Clare from Aimetu's Stitching is asking for some help with her smalls.  Each year Clare decorates a tree for her church's Tree Festival with stitched ornaments.  I have donated ornaments in the past and this year she is asking us to join in again.  The theme is A Bouquet of Flowers.  All she needs is the stitched piece, she will fully-finish it for you.  Just leave a comment on Clare's blog to get involved.   (I include this each month as a reminder for myself!)

Longest Day Marathon 2020 over IHSW

This is the fifth year I have attempted my Marathon of stitching every WIP I have.

Unfortunately, the Corona Virus has disrupted my plans like it has so many other things this year.  As I couldn't dedicate an entire day to stitching I decided to spread it over the two days of June's IHSW.

As my son was off school, the first day started much later than usual with my 20-a-Day project:

And that was that.  I uploaded each photo onto the IHSW FB group throughout the weekend so people could follow along with me.

This year was different and I have to be honest  - I didn't like this way so much.  On the plus side - I did have longer to stitch on some pieces.  Everything got at least a full 30 minutes and some pieces got 45-50 minutes which was nice.

But there wasn't the same "marathon" feeling of working on EVERYTHING in one day.  I couldn't lay them all out and work my way through the pile like I usually do.  The everyday things like "doing stuff with my family" got in the way too.  And I had to forego all my email and blog reading for both days.  Hopefully next year will be back to normal!  It's a Monday in 2021.
