The Smalls SAL is hosted by Mary's Thread
At the beginning of the month I managed to finish my Christmas Small from September. Several people guessed it was a dragon! This is You Are My Gift from the 2010 issue of Just Cross Stitch Christmas Ornament Special.

The design I chose for October wasn't the best choice for stitching time unfortunately. As it is Dark October and I am stitching Hallowe'en all month, the only time I get for Christmas stitching is at bath time. But I can't bead at bath time so this month's design is looking a little dull. It is Victorian Christmas Tree by Sue Hillis Designs from the 2003 issue of Just Cross Stitch Christmas Ornament Special. You stitch the basic tree and then add beads to make candles and garlands.
Here is the tree:

I love the effect of the pine needles - they are blended with one strand of dark green and one of light green and then you backstitch the needles.
I will be adding the beads the first chance I get in November.
I have started this month's Word by Jessica Savage. This is a series in Cross Stitcher magazine. This is a very pretty one and will say "Imagine" when I finish it.

I also made a little bit of progress on the 25th Anniversary Cameo by Mirabilia.

Finally, this is the last call for the Hallowe'en Trick or Treat Blog Hop. There is still room for more people to join in, I will be sending the emails out on Monday so everyone knows what they are doing. Just leave a comment or send me an email if you are a no-reply person.
As always, great projects and stitching. L
ReplyDeleteSuch sweet designs, I love the Just Cross Stitch Holiday magazines, so many designs to choose from.

Great smalls ,love the tree .
ReplyDeleteEnjoy the weekend.
I love the colours for imagine! You tree looks so realistic - and just like a normal christmas tree, waiting for it's decoration. I'm intrigued to see it after it is 'decorated' x
ReplyDeleteI like your stitching
ReplyDeleteLovely projects Jo.

Love all the smalls. I have a piece that needs beading too. Used to bead when my hubby read to the kiddos at night. They are in college now so no night time beading.
ReplyDeleteThat little tree is going to be fabulous! I think the "imagine" one is my favourite of the words so far
ReplyDeleteGreat smalls! Lovely to see the dragon finished and so many other pieces in progress. The tree looks lovely as a tree, but I'm sure the beads will transform it into a wonderful Christmas Tree. :)
ReplyDeleteLooking forward to the Halloween blog hop and seeing your Enchanted Alphabet.
ReplyDeleteBeautiful work Jo. I have a fondness for trees, so I just love your Victorian Christmas Tree.
ReplyDeleteGreat stitching! I love the tree, I bet it'll looks stunning once the beads are on. And Imagine looks so nice and colourful, a great contrast against the darkness of October!
ReplyDeleteLovely projects for this check in. Love the colors in Imagine. The tree looks great. Love the overall look of it. Of course the dragon is my top favorite.
ReplyDeleteOooh, you know I love that precious dragon!
ReplyDeleteI'm looking forward to seeing what you do with the tree, it looks nice plain too.
