Hosted by Rachel the Ten Hour Stitcher
There's a new SAL in town this month; a SAL designed to motivate us all to do something with that box of Finishes pieces instead of just storing them under the bed. We will all be linking up on Rachel's blog on or after the 10th of each month (10 Hour Stitcher - 10th of the month).
This month I have been scrapbooking some old and new Christmas finishes. I have three scrapbooks; one for Hallowe'en, one for Christmas and one for everything else.
Here's the latest pages:
Mill Hill Trumpet
Freebie from Kissy Cross blog
Stitchrovia from 2017
Rosewood Manor Festive Quaker Tree from 2009 JCS
stitched this January
Christmas Cottage Ornament from the 1990s
mounted in a Christmas card
JBW Antique Christmas Trees
stitched in 2017
Blue Ribbon Designs Roaming Reindeer
stitched in 2015
Blue Ribbon Designs Woodsy Winter
stitched in 2012
(seriously, this has sat in a folder for 6 and a half years!)
If you'd like to see more of my scrapbook pages without coming to my house, have a look at the special page on my Happy Dance Blog - Scrapbook Pages
And a professionally framed piece. This is Dragon of the Winter Moon by Dragon Dreams, finished in 2017 and framed using my Christmas Gift Voucher.
A simple navy mat and silver frame to show plenty of the lovely fabric
which is 32 count Moondust Murano by Crafty Kitten
Finally, something else coming to a finish - Google Plus. This was Google's attempt to create a social media network to rival Facebook. They tried to force us all to change our Google accounts to Google Plus despite the issues it caused with emails and commenting. Now they have finally given up flogging this horse and are reverting everyone back to plain old Google accounts. There is no need to panic or worry unless you use Google Plus to store your photos or have a lot of connections with people via it. You will have been sent an email letting you know what to do.
My recommendation would be to go into your Dashboard and revert to the standard Google account NOW and see if that changes anything on your blog while you have time to fix it.
I found another box of unfinished/finished things the other day. I'm overwhelmed now. I need to take a step back and remind myself that they don't have to be finished-finished yesterday. I really like you're idea to scrapbook them.
ReplyDeleteSuch a creative way of FFOing your projects. Can you tell that I love this idea?
ReplyDeleteI like the scrapbook idea for finishes! Eventually one runs out of wall space and this is a great alternative. Ooooh, your dragon looks fabulous!!
ReplyDeleteI love your dragon finish. Your scrapbook finishes are so cute; you have been really busy.
ReplyDeleteScrap booking is such a fun way to finish your stitching. I love the way it looks! I wish google would quit messing with things! I'm not even sure what I have, I will take a look. Thanks for the heads up!
ReplyDeleteLovely post full of lots of finishes. I love Rachel's idea for this new SAL. I really needed the kick in the bum to finish things finally.
ReplyDeleteLove how you are mixing scrapbooking with stitching. Wonderful results. RJ@stitchingfriendsforever
ReplyDeleteDragon of the Winter Moon is gorgeous! I love how you are displaying your Christmas stitching. What a great idea to put them in a scrapbook.
ReplyDeleteCongrats on all your finishes.
You are boundlessly creative, Jo. What a marvelous way to keep and display all your pretty little stitches!
ReplyDeleteWhat a great idea for your little projects. They are all lovely!
ReplyDeleteThank you for joining in with this SAL. The number of finishes you have achieved is very impressive and will take some beating, I think! It's great you've delved back in time too to find some to pieces to finish; never say never!
ReplyDeleteObviously Winter Moon is my favourite and it's been framed perfectly! I'm so glad you left lots of fabric showing; it would have been a shame to have hidden it. I also love how the Roaming Reindeer appears startled by the trees! Perfect placement.
So that's 9 down... how many more to go?! :)
Such an ingenious way of finishing small designs. x
ReplyDeleteI just love your dragon, the frame and mat really goes well with the your stitching. I think it is so creative to combine your scrapbooking and cross stitching together.
ReplyDeleteI am SOOOO glad I avoided Google+ like the plaque...it seemed too Facebook-y to me! Great finishes by the way as always! You are a genius at some of those! I wish I could be crafty...I just ain't got that gene!
ReplyDeleteOh the dragon!!!!
ReplyDeleteI love the frame you picked for your dragon.
ReplyDeleteWOW! You had a lot of FFOs. You go girl!
ReplyDeleteSuch lovely scrapbooking pages. The reindeer in the wreath is especially nice.
ReplyDeleteI like the way you scrapbook finish your pieces.
ReplyDeleteWhat a good idea to do these different scrapbook finishes. I love the Wish upon a Star pattern and the wonderful framed dragon. great finishes this month Jo.
ReplyDeleteLove all your finishes. Scrapbooking your stitching is a brilliant idea.
ReplyDeleteYour scrapbook finishes are good but I've fallen in love with your Dragon of the Winter Moon. The framing is perfect and shows the design off so well.
ReplyDeleteScrapbooking sounds like a great way to finish off small pieces without a lot of hassle, but honestly, I don't really know how it works. Do you just have big books of these pages to look at, like photo albums?
ReplyDeleteThe Winter Moon Dragon loos stunning in his frame!
Poor Woodsy Winter, lurking away in a drawer for six years! This is a fun SAL to get things taken care of.
ReplyDeleteGood riddance to G+; maybe it'll make things easier (hah) for commenting now. The antique Christmas trees are a cute little sampler.
I love your scrapbook finishes, and your dragon is lovely! The frame suits it beautifully :) I always refused to upgrade to G+ because the circle idea was way too complicated; I meant to learn about it but never made the time - turns out my massive procrastination is good for something LOL
