Each month we have to share the projects we want to complete before the End Of The World. I have chosen my "17 in '17" which are the 17 projects I want to focus on this year. You can see the full list on this page here.
This month I managed a WIPocalypse finish! Thanks to Just One July and Joan Elliott July I was able to focus on Joan Elliott's July Mermaid and get her finished:

July - What are your oldest and your newest WIPs?
I can't 100% say this is my oldest WIP as I didn't keep records back then. But I think the Ernie Bishop NOEL letters are older than Bande des Dragons. I've put them in my X-Stitch app as a 1998 start which may be a year or two out but it's definitely that era. Which makes them nearly 20 years old. I have no idea what I would do with them if I ever finished them as unframed whitework does not mix with a house with a wood burner!
For some reason I started with L and then worked backwards:
Newest WIP is much easier, the latest Just Nan ornie Snow Forest was restarted last Sunday, 23rd July, 2017 and I have stitched 30 a day for 9 days:
Finally, I have noticed a new "person" commenting on my blog and a couple of others too. I say "person" because all they are doing is copying the previous comment and when you go to their profile all you see is gambling websites. I don't think there is any harm they can do just by commenting but I would advise deleting their comments and not clicking on any of the links on their profile.
Congrats on the finish Jo. Spring in the square looks so pretty. Will you do another 10 a day when it's done? The whitework is quite lovely.

ReplyDeleteI love the Enchanted Alphabet by L&L, she is one of my favorite designers. the Emily Bishop looks wonderful too, maybe one day you'll get it finished, it would look great as a banner on your mantel at Christmas.

ReplyDeleteI have never seen the NOEL letters, neither on your blog nor on someone else's.They are so lovely.
I love to see old designs, and it's so interesting to see how the style of the designers has sometimes changed, and also my own tastes. But I also love stitching old designs.
I have also had the comment which leads you to links to gambling sites. And I deleted it immediately.
I couldn't have imagined you having a WIP that's about 20 years old! They're lovely, by the way!
ReplyDeleteThanks for the heads up about the unspecified "persons" duplicating comments. I've picked up a few from Sok Sareth if that's any help. Not only have comments been copied, they have also been posted on the wrong pages! I like the delete option! :)

ReplyDeleteSpring in the Square is so pretty. I also love your Noel project. And I also got the weird comment, which I promptly deleted.
ReplyDeleteLovely stitching all around, the mermaid looks great, perfect fabric. As for the Noel letters, perhaps you could finish them in some way to protect from the woodsmoke... someone recommended a dip in sugar water to stiffen up my harbinger ornie, or perhaps a clear varnish spray. The pattern is so pretty, seems a shame to give it up.

Congratulations on your mermaid finish! Beautiful stitching and fabric on that one. I'm a long-time fan of Emie Bishop, and I love the Noel letters. I think a banner, either horizontal or vertical, would be lovely!

So many beautiful projects. Love all your progress. Those hackers amaze me in how fast they come up with new stupid stuff we have to keep ahead of.

Lovely finish. That Noel piece looks really nice. By the way, I got one of those weird comments as well. I just flagged it as spam.

ReplyDeleteIt would be a shame not to finish the Emie Bishop banners, why not sew them all down onto a piece of pale green linen and then you could stretch and frame it as a single piece

Of course everything looks wonderful! I really love your NOEL, maybe putting it as far away from the wood burner might help?

ReplyDeleteYay Congrats on finishing Joan's Mermaid. What can I say, but that Peacock fabric is amazeballs! I really love the colours on Spring in the Square too. It's so pretty and Springy. So now that you have pulled out a 20 year old wip do you think you will stitch on it now and maybe gift it to someone who doesn't have a wood burner. Or will this be the forever wip?
