January WIPocalypse SALs

WIPocalypse
WIPocalypse is hosted by Measi's Musings

Each month we have to share the projects we want to complete before the End Of The World.  I have chosen my "17 in '17" which are the 17 projects I want to focus on this year.  You can see the full list on this page here.

This month I have worked on a massive 7 of the list!!  I even had a finish.

Imaginating - Hallowe'en

Oberlin - Witch

Joan Elliott - 12 Days of Christmas

Brooke's Books - Stitcher's Alphabet

Lavender & Lace - Enchanted Alphabet

The Workbasket - Fox Forest - Finish!

Just Nan - Spring in the Square

Measi always gives us a topic to discuss too.

January - What SAL’s are you participating in this year?

Quite a few!  I much prefer the open-themed SALs, such as WIPocalypse where I can fit my own projects into the posts rather than the ones were everyone stitches the same design.

Here's the full list:

First Saturday of month - The Alphabet Club - we are working our way through the alphabet, the next letter will be S.

15th of each month - Gifted Gorgeousness - link up with anything which was a gift to you or is intended as a gift

21st of each month - Theme-tas-stitch - Post something connected with that month's theme.

26th of each month - Now I Know my ABCs - stitch something beginning with the letter.  Next month is I

New Moon - TUSAL - show us your ORTs!

Last Friday of month - Smalls SAL - post anything small you have stitched this month.

Last Sunday of month - WIPocalypse - post before the world ends!

End of Month - 17 in '17 - this is a quilting group co-incidentally doing the same thing as me, so I'm linking up with them too

End of Month - Stitch From Stash - now on Facebook, keep within a budget and stitch what you already own.

Throughout the month I also have the Hallowe'en Ornie SAL blog, the Christmas Ornie SAL blog and various Facebook themed SALs.

Kaye and I are doing one traditional SAL where we both stitch the same design - The Drawn Thread's Spot of Seasons.  So far we have stitched Spot of Winter and on 1st March we will start Spot of Spring.  I have also purchased Part 1 of the Stitchrovia Quotes to Live By partwork because all profits are going to MIND.  I will wait and see whether I like the other quotes until I start that one.  You buy each month separately so you could just stitch a few of them as ornies if you don't like them all.  That's the main reason I don't do mystery SALs, I don't know if I'm going to like them!  If I can't keep up I run out of enthusiasm too.

Finally, as well as the SALs I run my Blog Hops.  There are usually five a year; Easter, Summer, Hallowe'en, Advent and the next one which will be Valentine's Secret Stitching Sweetheart.  If you'd like to take part in this one please leave a comment.  I will ask you to send me a photo of something you have stitched which would be suitable for a Stitching Valentine.  I send a photo to each participant and we all hop around on the 14th to see who received each Valentine.

  1. Excellent stitching all around! You've made great progress on 12 Days and I love the Enchanted Alphabet. I had to look that one up but i'm not sure my little guy would like it since it features a little girl. Nice start on Halloween- that's a fun stitch IMO. The Fox Forest is super cute!

  21. That's another impressive list of projects you were working on in January. And a great SAL list, too.
When it comes to mysteries I am the same now after a big disappointment which definitely ruined mysteries for me. And although it was long ago it still keeps me from joining SALs before I haven't seen at least 2/3 of the project.

  22. You sure love your SALs, and I love how you fit your own projects in with them. You'll probably hit those 7 (or more) of 17 each month if you keep up! But I'm curious, do you have a start date planned for your two big new starts on that list yet?
Thanks for sharing the Quotes to life by SAL...it looks awesome, I think I will need to get that one as well :) I like a bit of mystery, especially with projects like this where you can just do the parts you like separately if you don't like them all (and you know me, I usually start them waaaay after they are complete, too!)

  23. Wow, you are involved in quite a few SALs. I've joined a few to help me with the 17 UFOs in 2017 and also to bust some stash.

Congratulations on your January progress. You have some nice projects there.
