WIPocalypse is hosted by Measi's Musings
Each month we have to share the projects we want to complete before the End Of The World.
The focus of my WIPocalypse will be my "16 in '16" which are 16 projects I particularly wanted to concentrate on in 2016. The full list can be found on my WIPocalypse page where you can also find my secondary list "16 Series in '16".
My main goal is to keep to my rotation of one small every Friday and the rest of the month working on my focus piece until it is finished. I also have a number of SALs I want to keep up with:
The Alphabet Club - a different letter on the first Saturday of each month
Gifted Gorgeousness - post anything gifted on the 15th
Hallowe'en Ornie Blog - a different spooky theme each month
Christmas Ornie Blog - a different festive theme each month
Smalls SAL - last Thursday of each month
**************************************
I have worked on 1 out of 16 projects since my last WIPocalypse, plus 3 from my series list.
3. Dragon of the Winter Moon by Dragon Dreams:
6. Stitcher's Alphabet by Brooke's Books:
Finally, I am taking names for the Advent Calendar Blog Hop. I will allocate each participant a day in December, they will post a stitched picture and an answer to this year's discussion topic. I will copy their picture onto the main post and add a link to their blog. To take part, just leave a comment or email me. If there's a day you can't do or a special day you would like then please let me know,

And for the series:
1. Christmas Cubes by The Primitive Hare. Which I'm not going to show because I'm nearly finished the final letter! Instead I will show you the four finished ones so far:

16. Byzantine Ornaments by Teresa Wentzler:

Measi always give us a topic to discuss:
November - what pattern or designer is on your "must try to stitch" bucket list.
This will be an easy one for observant followers of my blog. It's been in my profile description of my blog since Day 1. Quote "my ambition is to stitch a Chatelaine ... one day". Well, that day is nearly here! After years of indecision I finally chose the perfect design "Gardens of London". I wanted a Mandala but not one that was the same on all four sides because I knew I would get bored of that. I also wanted one that meant something to me and London is the city I have visited most often. Norwich doesn't count because I worked there and anyway Martina has not done a "Pubs and Churches of Norwich Mandala" yet. The city's claim is that they had a different pub for every night and a church for every Sunday. I received the gorgeous fabric from Crafty Kitten last week and have been gifted many of the threads needed for my Birthday.
32 count Belfast Cotton Clouds from Crafty Kitten
I have printed the centre part of the design at x300 so it's nice and clear. I have printed the black and white chart which I will colour as I go but I will have the coloured chart up on the laptop at the same time because it's easier to see in some ways. I have bagged up all the threads and written the symbols for the ones used in the centre on the actual chart so I don't need to refer to the main list as I stitch.
All I need to do is finish the H Cube for Christmas and iron that fabric then we're good to go! How exciting.

That is so exciting that you'll be on your way to working on a Chatelaine soon. I still don't know if I want to ever stitch one, but I will enjoy watching yours grow. Nice work on everything else!
ReplyDeleteI wouldn't be surprised if we all had Chatelaine's on our minds when it came to answering this question.
ReplyDeleteCute finishes and nice progress Jo.

You have so much pretty stitching to share! I just love the blocks!they will make a great Christmas decoration.
ReplyDeleteHa, dragon is starting to look more like a dragon and less like a pile of snow. Love that fabric for your Chatelaine. Reminds me of blue skies with white clouds, perfect background for gardens.
ReplyDeleteWow, that mandala is an ambitious project.
ReplyDeleteGreat stitching pieces, love the stitcher's alphabet.
ReplyDeleteHey Jo, I have the Gardens of London Chatelaine pattern, too. I bought it because DD is in London. I would ask to SAL it with you but I am just looking at the pattern and I am already lost! What is the big S in the middle? I cannot see a corresponding symbol anywhere. I do not think that you would want to partner up with a person who cannot read the chart from Day One! lol! Plus, you know me - so many projects on the go, it might not get the attention it deserves.
ReplyDeleteGreat progress! I'm amazed how much progress you were able to make on your WIPocalypse list for '16. And I'm so excited for you to start that Chatelaine! One day I will be in the same place. One day...!
ReplyDeleteLove seeing the Christmas Cubes on display. Chatelaines and HAEDs are still far from my head (and skill!). Will just be happy seeing your progress on London. Lovely fabric😊
ReplyDeleteCount me in for the bloghop please!AriadnefromGreece!
ReplyDeleteThat London Mandala is a gorgeous project and I'm sure you will *love* stitching it. I say this in spite of my not so good experiences with another one of these mandalas or gardens. But it might be my own fault that I don't like stitching it and not the garden's fault :)
ReplyDeleteEnlarging the chart, yes, that's what I should have done with my current project and I think that would have prevented me from reading the symbols wrongs and stitching with the wrong colour in oh so many places :( The last two evenings I spent with rip-it rip-it and it's still not done.
I'm with you I really want to stitch a Chatelaine. I have had Polar lights in my stash since the dawn of stitching and have yet to take on that adventure. But one day, and hopefully soon I will make an attempt. Gardens of London looks amazing, I can't wait to see your progress. xo Alicia
ReplyDeleteGreat stitching this month! Your Christmas Cubes look amazing :D
ReplyDeleteAnd why, one may ask, has she not designed a Norwich mandala? I see a whole series - "Small Cities Which No-one Outside Britain Has Heard Of" You could have Wells, Ripon, Carlisle, Truro. The list goes on.
ReplyDeleteLooking forward to seeing you progress on London though
I'm so excited that you are starting gardens of London, it's such a cool chart. I'd love to participate in the Advent blog hop.
ReplyDeleteI am so excited to see the London mandala unfold when you start it :o)
ReplyDeleteI have a couple of the big ones in my stash - one of which I am kitting up at the moment to start next year as the perfect piece of fabric arrived in the latest FOTM club from Colour Cascades :o)
Hugs xx
It's going to be lovely watching your London grow and come to life.
ReplyDeleteJust love your updates. Such Beautiful stitching going on. I just LOVE your Christmas Cubes!! I wish you tons and tons of luck on the mandala and I look forward to cheering you along.
ReplyDeleteGreat choices! I'm so excited for you and your new start! Let me know when you want me to order your beads :)
