Fast forward a few years and I started blogging and entering giveaways. Lesley from Lesley's Stitching Diary was the host for one of them. Can you believe my luck when back in April 2012 I won the chart I had seen all those years before? Little Snap Dragon is designed by Dyan Allaire for Kustom Krafts. Later that year I received the threads for the design in a magazine exchange with Kathy (I sent her a UK mag and she sent me the threads plus a very long Joann's receipt!) And there they sat, in my stash binding their time.
That time came last year with the DUCJC and my Gifted Gorgeousness SAL. When I was sorting our my GG stash I knew Little Snap Dragon had to be included. In fact he was the first project of the DUCJC2015 started on 1st January, 2015. And here is how far I got:
And then back in the box for the rest of the year! I included him in my "16 in '16" this year and the lucky little dragon's number came up this month! I restarted him on Monday 16th May and here he is after another four days' stitching:
Lots and lots of green.
Not one or two greens but
nine different greens. So far.
Plus one dark navy,
This is quite confetti filled unlike my preferred Mirabilia and Joan Elliott designs where the colours flow nicely alongside one another. Here's an example:
Look at all those different symbols to make green and navy!
Anyway, it's looking lovely and my highlighter pens are doing overtime. The fabric is another 32 count Murano from Crafty Kitten. This one is Evening Sky.
Finally, another shout out for my Birthday Blog Year - The Years of Jo's Life. If you decide to take part, I will allocate you a year and an event which you blog about and include a photo of something you have stitched that you think I will like. Drop me an email if you need more details! The blog hop will take place on the 17th September this year.
Nine Shades of Green... But this is so pretty. And the story behind this little guy is wonderful. Thank you for sharing. And looking forward to watching your WIP.
ReplyDeleteSo great to see this one again! I've had it in my wish list, owned it, given it away, had it back in my wish list, and then picked up the Daisy Dragon and still own that one, but haven't started yet. I'm glad you're enjoying it even with the confetti, it looks fantastic!
ReplyDeleteBeautiful, love that dragon
ReplyDeleteCan't go wrong with a dragon, this one has caught my eye a time or two as well. So far I am doing amazingly well to resist it. Having seen the confetti I shall find resisting easier!
ReplyDeleteLovely story, Jo, and he is looking great but nine different greens! Wow!
ReplyDeleteYour dragon looks great Jo. I love all of the green colors as that is my favorite color.
ReplyDeleteLinda
That's a lot of confetti, must be the one thing that puts me off some designs. The dragon is so sweet though, glad to see him back out and getting some love.
ReplyDeleteObviously he was meant to be yours! A cutie - and you know the confetti will be worth it in the end. Lots of deep breaths.
ReplyDeleteWhat a lovely dragon!!
ReplyDeleteI guess this dragon was destined to be yours. Nice progress. Looks like we have similar way of stitching with the highlighting of chart and thread card.
ReplyDeleteI've seen this chart before and contemplated picking it up! I bet it will look lovely once it's done!
ReplyDeleteOh he is a lovely little chap! Good luck with all the confetti stitching, I think it would send me cross eyed
ReplyDeleteOh this is a sweet, little one.
ReplyDeleteAll these colour changes are rewarding, this looks stunning!!!
ReplyDeleteWhat a beautiful design! The confetti stitching will be worth it in the end :)
ReplyDeleteAnother great beautiful start. The fabric is lovely too:)
ReplyDeletePlease don't put him away! I'm still racking my brains for dragon songs. How about Smoke gets in your eyes?!
ReplyDeleteGreat progress he's adorable :)
ReplyDeleteI love the story behind this lovely project. And I can totally relate to these pre-internet times. lol.
ReplyDeleteOne of my WIPs, A Stoney Creek design, also has this confetti stitching and lots of hues of one colour. The stitching is not easy and a bit slow going but the effect is always great. Like on your project.
Oh, what a cute little dragon - I'm glad he made it into your rotation again, I will enjoy watching you finish him ^_^
ReplyDeleteHe's coming along nicely. That's a lot of confetti stitches.
ReplyDeleteLovely dragon, the fabric is very pretty!
ReplyDeleteHe's so cute! Lovely stitching so far, even though that confetti looks intense! :D
