Theme-a-licious Looking Backward and Forward IV

Theme-a-licious is hosted by Heather of It's Geek to Me

Each month Heather thinks up a theme for us to stitch to, or in my case, a theme to somehow shoe-horn my existing stitching into, no matter how tenuous the link!

April's theme was:

Amazon April
Dip your needle into the vast swath of fabric dedicated to your BIGGEST projects!

I stitched on a mere two BAPs for Amazon April and both were Round Robins!

The first was Julie's Angels piece for which I stitched the Archangel Michael, it does make a nice change to stitch a male figure rather than the usual elegant lady.

The other RR was the recently finished Celtic Band Sampler for Sophia, here is my band again:

There's a new theme for May this year -

Monochrome May
Pick a colour, any colour, then stitch only on projects that contain that colour for the month!

I won't be able to just pick one colour for all my pieces as I have another RR to stitch and various multi-coloured pieces too.  Green Goddess fits the theme though and my Scarlet Letter sampler which  is currently all scarlet although eventually there will be more colours!

I've also been drooling over the freebie from Alessandra Adelaide on FB as stitched by Nic the Obsessive Cross Stitcher on her blog.  She's used a gorgeous rainbow thread hand dyed by a friend new to the business, find Jodyri Designs too.  While you're on FB you can also sign up for Thread Pickerz freebie Hearts SAL starting soon, 2 little hearts a week for 8 weeks.

I know a lot of people don't like Facebook and to be honest I don't blame them!  There is more bitching, flaming and politics going on there than any of the blogs or forums I've used.  People seem to take umbrage more quickly too.  I got flamed once for idly asking people what I should stitch that evening and not posting photos of the choices!!  Apparently I wasted someone's valuable time!

Anyway there is a lot of good stuff on there too if you stick to the stitching groups or the cute cat groups.  Even there though someone complained that the LOLZ Cats can't spell!  Er, that's the point of it...  You don't have to have loads of personal stuff on there, you don't even need a photo, I have a picture of my stitching and you can block all the annoying games too.

Finally, it's May Day tomorrow so don't forget to get up early and wash your face in the morning dew.  Or the morning frost in our case!

  1. I do like that heart design. I'm reluctant to join another FB group though as I spend so much time on the PC as it is!! I need to spend some quality sewing time soon.

  2. I love the Celtic knotwork! And your FB encounter made me giggle - I always feel like I want to pass around chamomile tea or whiskey - whatever will make people be less grumpy!

  6. Lovely angel and knotwork! I'm still very wary of FB despite having joined more than a year ago... mostly I tend to consider it a time sink :-) But I agree that there's good stuff there too.

  10. Gorgeous beadwork on Michael and I LOVE the Celtic band sampler! Stitchy groups can be great fun on FB: when the bitching starts, I just get the popcorn and watch it unfold - sometimes better then any soap opera!

  11. Love Archangel Michael. He looks stunning.

I've seen that lovely AAN heart and have downloaded it. Not sure when I'll get around to stitching it though!

  12. The angel you stitched for the Mirabilia RR looks so gorgeous. I've seen a couple of Mirabilia RRs on some blogs and all of them are really fantastic. This one is no exception.

  13. Wow! The Archangel Michael is just amazing! I had not seen that design before. Thanks for all of the links - I have bought some gorgeous WDW pastel variegated thread to stitch that one - just sensational!

I agree with your re FB - people can get just a bit too precious about it all! It is great for the cross stitch groups and for keeping up with friends and family you don't see often.

    hugs, Kaye
