A quick request regarding blogs with Word Verifiers - I can't comment on these right now. Blogger just won't accept what I type. I had at least 10 attempts on one blog last night and gave up in frustration! Please consider removing Word Verifiers if you have it or at least make sure it's visible on the first comment screen so I know not to bother typing a long comment then can't post it! If you're concerned about Spam then remove the option for "Anonymous" to comment. It mostly seems to be newer bloggers that still have Word Verifiers so maybe you're not aware of the difficulty! I'd hate you to think I'm ignoring your blogs,
Holly, I especially loved your sweet peas!! I call my boys that sometimes as a term of endearment. An elderly lady heard me and said "What a lovely name for such a pretty little girl". Actually he's got a normal name and he's a BOY!! But I said it more politely than that LOL.
I've been stitching away on Around the World and if "Sweet Pea" hadn't been up until midnight last night I'd have finished Part 3. Never mind. That's what happens when they have a nap during the day.
May I just say, I hate Lazy Daisies! Though they do work better in two strands than in one. You can also really see the difference between a single strand for bs and a double. The two shapes second and third from the left only have one strand whereas all the others have two. I'll be going over those shapes again so they all have two strands.
I also received this anazing piece of fabric from Karen as a RAK. Poor old dear can't see to stitch on 40count so she sent it to me! Here's a picture of the fabric (colours as accurate as possible) and also the chart I'm planning to stitch on it. What do you think? I need a nice black thread a little thicker than one strand of DMC as I'll be stitching over 2 and I'm not sure if one strand will cover well enough. Any recommendations gratefully received. I don't mind spending a little more for this project. Within reason. Not £10 a skein!
There was a lovely little stitch counter in with the fabric too. Do you think Karen's hinting I'll need one? LOL.
Thank you for the blog recommendation, and I will check my comment options right now! :)

Beautiful progress on "around the World". I didn't have a sweet pea, but I did (and still do much to his annoyance as he's 29 now) have a Peanut. Ohhhh, lovely fabric and I think that pattern will look perfect. Is the mystery stitch "Home of a Needleworker"?
ReplyDeleteLovely post, Jo, sorry that I haven't visited for a while but I have been struggling a bit with finding time for blogging. I cannot wait to see your mystery stitch revealed. I am pretty sure that my word verification is off but please let me know if it isn't.
ReplyDeletelots of stitchy hugs, Kaye
"Poor old dear???" Good grief, you're making me sound like a granny!! roflmao (though I do have the eyes of a granny, it seems.)
ReplyDeleteI think the Prarie Moon design is perfect for the fabric. I'm glad it'll get some love.
*hugs*
Beautiful fabric - Hand Dyed Fibers make their silks in premium as well as regular otherwise you could just use 2 strands of thread - I've done 2 strands on 20 count over 1 on a Haed and it was fine - not sure how it would work out on this particular fabric though you will need to try.
ReplyDeleteAwww thank you dear..you made my birthday extra special *.* kisses for you xxxxxxxxxxx
ReplyDeleteLovely progress on your stitching and the fabric is so beautiful..that design will look lovely on that fabric..
Hmmm I think mystery stitch is the home of a needle worker ..
Lots of love for you xxx
Nice progress, and still can't work out that new Mystery Stitch!!!
ReplyDeleteAh! I think Cucki got it!
ReplyDeleteWhat she said ;)
The around the world is looking gorgeous. I do love lazy daisy stitch, but in free embroidery not counted work, it's just too unpredictable for the regularity of counted thread work in my opinion.
I call my kids Sweet Pea too. Mostly when I can't remember their names...
It has to be Home of a Needleworker!
ReplyDeleteAround the World looks stunning.
ReplyDeleteI'm finding the verification looks all blurred recently, it sure does cause a lot of wasted time.
I think you are stitching LHN - Home of the Needleworker, and i have that somewhere in my stash pile.
Yep I agree - Home of a Needleworker. That fabric is gorgeous although I couldn't stitch on that count either!
ReplyDeleteI am still struggling on with part 2 of Around the World. It is driving me totally doolally! Yours is looking great!
Your SAL is looking lovely.I am not a fan of the lazy dasies either although I am better at them since stitching part 3. I was happy to see part 4 is daisy-less, but they're back in part 5.
ReplyDeleteI definitely recognise that mystery stitching :-) Looking forward to seeing your progress x
ReplyDeleteLHN Home of a Needleworker! I totally agree with you about the word verification thing. I can't believe you even tried 10 times, I give up after the 3rd try.
ReplyDeleteI've been having a lot of issues with blogger lately myself! Many of the blogs I have followed don't even show up in my feed / dashboard. The blog itself doesn't show up in my followed list! And then an entry magically appears a few weeks later and I find I've missed weeks of other posts! So frustrating. I haven't had any issues with word verifiers... although I found I had to get quite close to the screen to see some of them! I hope mine's not giving issues but I wouldn't be at all surprised if it was, hah.
ReplyDeleteThat's a lovely piece of fabric but I don't think I'd be able to see on 40 count either! Or I would have to take my glasses off and stitch with my nose, ahahaha.
Around the World is looking magnificent and I am taking a wild guess that your mystery project will be "Do not get in the way of a needleworker for she has many sharp objects at her disposal!" Along with cute, non-threatening motifs around the design. Am I close? ;)
Thank you for the remainder of Cucki's birthday. I had no idea!
ReplyDeleteThat Praire Moon design looks very familiar... wait, It is in my WIP pile. Wow, we can have a little SAL going here :)
Happy b-day to Cuki!
ReplyDeleteWhat a wonderful RAK and I do think the fabric and chart would be perfect together.
LOL now I know its HOme of a Needleworker!!!
Hello
ReplyDeleteYour stitching is looking beautiful!
I think I've managed to take word verification off my blog, I have had problems with it too.
Happy stitching!
Hi Jo
ReplyDeleteThanks for your advice - I'll try what you suggested.
Sally x
Hello, I'm a new follower to your blog (can't rightly remember who I found you through) and just love your choices in projects. I, too, am a big fan of Mirabilia, TW, Joan Elliot, L&L and others.
ReplyDeleteJo... I LOVE the colors you picked for Around the World. Just like a garden. :D
ReplyDeleteYum on that fabbie!!
I totally agree with you about the verification thingy. Thanx for the reminder as I meant to check my blog to get rid of it if I hadn't already. I love the fabby you won it's really cool. As for your mystery wahoo I have absolutely no idea what it could be. Sorry stunner! xox
