First Finish of 2026
stitched on 35 count cream linen
I did decide to backstitch the hens as they did fade into the fabric a little bit too much.
Each evening I have been stitching on my Just Nan choice - the Witching Hour Cube:
stitched on 32 count purple linen
The borders are charted for Weeks Dye Works but I used DMC 333 for the main purple outline and then some silks for the inner borders. I was gifted the silks kit for Counting Bats and as Nan uses the same colours for many of her designs I thought this was a good chance to use them again. Those greens are so pretty.
Happy New year Jo , lovely Christmas stitch .

Cot, cot, cot, codec ! Which means a French granny hen is congratulating you for this first finish of the year. (I added granny, what I am, to be sure the name will suit me... as hen here has a lot of meanings!) Anyway the stitching is great and now the next question is : in which team are you : calling birds or colly birds? Sure there are many PhD students working on the 12doC, so what color will they be, black, red, blue... xxx
ReplyDeleteOh a finish, glad the stitching is going to plan.
ReplyDeletePS : is it ok that I use your photo of the 3 hens as a logo to the "GG 2026". I still post on the 15th about GG after you stopped. If not just tell me. xxx
ReplyDeleteCongratulations on your finish! Your outlining is so nice, the colors really pop.
ReplyDeleteA finish already. Way to go you! 3 French Hens turned out cute. Looking forward to the next one 4 Turtle Doves.

That was fast! I'm happy dancing with you the hens look great!
ReplyDeleteCongratulations Jo!! I had one finish last year and it's not looking good for this year LOL! But you know me. Looking forward to more of your witchy stitching too.

A satisfying start to your stitching year with your third day finish Jo. That's one of the things I like about Just Nan, that certain colours are used regularly in her designs. Doesn't stop me still not having one or two shades when I go to stitch.
ReplyDeleteLovely design Jo, I'm doing 12 days of Christmas for my church tree this year.
ReplyDeleteGreat job having a finish already! The hens look really good with the outline added.
