April WIPocalypse Listening While You Stitch

WIPocalypse
WIPocalypse is hosted by Measi's Musings

Each month we have to share the projects we want to complete before the End Of The World.

The focus of my WIPocalypse will be my "16 in '16" which are 16 projects I particularly wanted to concentrate on in 2016.   The full list can be found on my WIPocalypse page where you can also find my secondary list "16 Series in '16".

My main goal is to keep to my rotation of one small every Friday and the rest of the month working on my focus piece until it is finished.  I also have a number of SALs I want to keep up with:

The Alphabet Club - a different letter on the first Saturday of each month
Gifted Gorgeousness - post anything gifted on the 15th
Hallowe'en Ornie Blog - a different spooky theme each month
Christmas Ornie Blog - a different festive theme each month
Smalls SAL - last Thursday of each month

**************************************

And now for the progress report:

I have worked on 4 out of 16 projects since my last WIPocalypse, plus 4 from my series list.

4. Little Snowy Cottage by Nora Corbett - WIP

stitched on 32 count Blue Hydrangea opalescent Murano from Crafty Kitten

I got bored with the silver so moved onto the bronze in the windowframes.

11. Elizabeth Shephard by The Scarlet Letter - WIP

stitched on 30 count linen

I worked on the bottom right hand corner

12. J by Nora Corbett - Finish

stitched on 32 count Love-in-the-Mist Murano from Crafty Kitten

16. Counting Bats by Just Nan - WIP

stitched on 32 count lilac linen

And the series:

1. Christmas Cubes by The Primitive Hare - WIP

stitched on 35 count Country Mocha from Willow Fabrics

I am stitching these out of order to fit in with the themes on the Christmas Ornie blog

6. The Stitcher's Alphabet by Brooke's Books - WIP

stitched on 28 count afghan

9. Spring Typography by Just Nan - New Start

stitched on 32 count Dark Reed Green linen
very bad photo of the colours!

15. Alphabet Fairies by Nora Corbett - see above.

Measi always gives us a topic to discuss too:

April - What do you listen to while you stitch?

This is an interesting one because last time I answered it, the TV was on a lot of the time.  This year, the Small Boy has decided the TV is not allowed to be on during the day!  So when he is at home the Large Boy and I have taken to sitting at the kitchen table and watching YouTube together.  Sunday afternoons we watch a film via the disc-drive or YouTube.  The rest of the time, it's either comedy clips or I have started following some FlossTubers.  He likes their accents and the way they get excited about projects ("it's so purrty!", also "flaaass taass", he loves that one).

Here are a few favourites who blog regularly:

(amazing Lavender & Lace conversions)

(365 starts this year!)

(She's British and looks and sounds like the Reception teacher at the boys' old Primary School)
(Her parents have a farm and she shows sheepies and stuff too!)

(She's hilarious, there's one where she's showing off her Lego and making up stories about it and another where she talks about dating.  Very funny!)

I rather like having someone in the room with me chatting about their stitching and stash.  The rest of the time I still listen to Planet Rock on the radio, which is what is on at the moment as I type this out.

Talking about other media brings me to Bloglovin' which is one of the popular ways of following blogs.  I have been getting emails from Bloglovin' telling me about new followers but only recently found out where the whole list of them is!  I have 245 extra followers!  Well, not actually because some do already follow me "properly".  So my request is - if you follow via Bloglovin' could you possibly click on the Followers button to the right of my blog.  And leave a comment too, it's nice to chat with my followers.  If you have a blog yourself, I promise to return the following too.

Finally, my map chart arrived!!  It's really well presented and laid out.  I will do a full review once I've had a proper peruse.

30 pages of chart and 2 pages of key!

I find it funny that it's the youngest child deciding not to have the TV on all day. You must be doing something right. I've tried watching some flosstubers. I like Amanda aka mrsmilkybarkid, but I find that I prefer reading blog posts.

Lovely stitching on everything Jo. I have watched a couple flosstubes, but I too prefer to read blogs. I sit at the kitchen table and stitch in the afternoon and watch an car drive by or people walking dogs go by once in a while. I'm not a big TV watcher but do watch in the evening with hubby.

Lovely display of stitching as always. Oh my, that map looks humongous, but hooray for another awesome soon-to-be WIP (I'm the one getting excited, lol). I too spend an incredible amount of time watching flosstube, haha. Stash Queen really lives up to her name:)

Lovely post Jo. Halloween has another sweet band. The cottage is so sparkly and I do love the colours of Spring.

I had no idea about floss-tubers. I'll have to investigate.

I managed to get through a whole comment without mentioning how much I love ES...oh wait I just did! Have a great weekend.

The HD3QBEM and Small Boy think alike about Daytime TV! We only turn it on at 5pm for her to watch the quiz show before the news. Boring?!

You know it's quite funny but just a few hours before you posted to your blog I was on YouTube looking at all the different floss-tubers and wondering who should I watch? thank you for listing your favorites! I stumbled across one that might amuse you *his* name is "Stitcher Moose" and he has a great sense of humor.

Beautiful progress :)

You have lots of great things going on. Of course, I love both the Halloween project and the Quaker too. But then that little cottage is really pretty! I guess I just like them all!

Excellent progress on Cottage. Kowgirl Kate must be the one whose blog is Needles and Haystacks. There can't be 2 Kates both doing mind boggling L&L conversions. If you haven't already found it, you should check out her blog.

Thanks for the Floss Tube links! I still prefer reading but I'll give it another try.
Your new chart looks awesome. I just remembered I have stitched a Pratchett chart, possibly by the same company. It was Death riding a horse. Lots of grey.

Fantastic progress on all of your projects, Jo. You know which is my favourite, although I think Spring Typography is a tie! Thanks for all the flosstuber links - I plan to have a good watch of some of them this coming week (if I get the chance - I tell you the week just seems to fly by and I am not even working!). I love your attitude, Jo, taking a negative situation (the small boy not allowing the TV on when he is home) and turning it to your advantage - floss tube watching - priceless!

Great progress! Having those progress pieces really seems to work out for you this year :)
Your little one must be very convincing, when both you and his brother obey his no-TV rule :D Great that it had you discover all those lovely ladies though!

Great post! Love all your stitching projects... and "J" is just so beautiful - loved seeing it again :o)
I watch TV while stitching... I tend to record programmes that Hubby isn't fussed about that are on Foxtel to watch on the weekends when stitching.
I have also recently discovered Flosstube... generally I watch them when I am ironing or on the train. I haven't ventured into watching them while stitching yet! I am amazed at how many are out there now... but my personal preference is still to blog :o)

Great progress on all your projects, and that little sparkly cottage looks so cute!
I generally stitch in the evenings, when the TV is on, or occasionally when I am travelling on the train. There really isn't much to see on TV these days! and I prefer reading blogs when I'm not stitching!
Looking forward to seeing more of that map.

Yay for Planet Rock!! I've never watched any videos of stitchers talking about their stash etc. but might check out the L&L conversions for when I eventually get round to starting mine! Great stitching/finishing/progress as usual! :)

OOOOOOOOOOh SHINY SHINY!!!! Love your cottage and J Fairy. It's all very you! The colours in Spring look so beautiful even with a bad photo. So it must look amazeballs IRL. Great stuff happening in your stitching world!

Oh my, Jo, you stitched on a lot of projects during the last WIPocalypse period, and you got so much done.
I think it's a gorgeous idea to listen to floss tube videos while stitching. I have tried this too after you recommended it to me and you are right, it's fun to listen to someone who is talking about stitching and stitching projects. Thanks for the links. I will try them out later.
